JURY TO PROBE
MlLiyWHIPPING
Investigation of Kidnaping and
Brutal Beating of Macon Man
Will be Taken up and Vigor
ously Pushed by Authorities.
Macon, Ga., Nov. 6.—Investiagtion
of the kidnaping and whipping- of
ft. F. Mills by five men last night
probably will be taken up by the
Bibb county grand jury when it con
venes here tomorrow, the solicitor
general anounced tonight.
A. L. Mills of Barnesville, a rela
tive of the victim, arived here today
to assist in the investigation and he
has offered a reward of $500.00 for
evidence sufficient to convict the kid
napers. At a mass meeting of citi
zens, resolutions on the lawless act
of the kidnaping of Mills were adopt
ed.
The Ku Klux Klan, which was
named by Mills as being responsible
for the atack on him last night, and
another about a year ago, formally
denied that it was in any way con
nected with the attack.
Mills still was in bed suffering
from the wounds he received after
he had been forced into an automo
bile by five men and carried away.
He declared that he believed business
jealousy was responsible for what he
termed his persecution. When he
first was kidnaped a year ago he was
carried to a grave yard and horse
whipped in the presence of his 12-
vear old son, and the latter, accord
ing to Mrs. Mills, has not yet recov
ered from the horror of that scene.
Can’t TakeAction
Atlanta, Ga., Nov. 6.—Gov. Hard
wick announced tonight that he can
not take any action in the case of R.
F. Mills, Macon man, who, last night
was kidnaped and assaulted by a
band of men, until an arrest has
been made, but that if any one was
held for the crime he would direct
the state attorney general to go to
Macon and aid in the prosecution.
The Governor’s announcement was
made over the long distance tele
phone from Sandersville to the At
lanta Constitution.

Important Meeting
of Parent-Teachers
The Parent-Teacher Association
held the first regular Tuesday after
noon meeting on time Tuesday after
noon in the High school auditorium.
Mrs. E. M. Donalson, vice president,
presided, as Mrs. Mason Nesbett, re
cently elcted to the presidency, hav
ing declined the office.
Mrs. Henry Maddox, the former
president, was reelected to the pres
idency and will in the future take
up her regular duties. The out
standing feature of the meeting was
the talk by Health Commissioner Dr.
Johnston, and which led up to the
decision of handling Christmas seals
this year.
Th e sales of seals to be used in
the establishment of a milk depot
for the undernourished school child
ren. Dr. Johnston stated that this
should be done until all children are
brought up to a normal weight. A
milk depot for the schools of Bain
bridge has been in the minds of those
interested in the schools for some
time, and that the idea is to be real
ized will be a big achievement for the
P. T. A.
It must also be borne in mind that
people sending cards, notes, letters,
and packages at the Chrisctmas sea
son will be doing their bit to this
important work by using seals on
everything mailed, or delivered by
hand during the joyous season. Make
your articles and mail more atract-
ive by using these seals. A better
town and a better country is made
by the proper development of the
boys and girls. Let everyone join
the P. T. A. in making this chance
for them the biggest thing that any
organization has yet undertaken.

identified with the religious life of
the community. Mr. Boland was the
superntendent of the Methodist Sun
day School, and has been a faithful
and consistent worker. Best wishes

‘"'Sirs. J. W. Callahan left Tuesday
for Atlanta where she will be with
her daughter, Mrs. Jackson, who is
in the Piedmont hospital.
Mr. H. M. Emanuel, of ner Recov
ery, was a delightful visitor to the
city Monday, for the first time in sev
eral months. The aged veteran was
stricken with an attack of rheuma
tism in June, and has not been well
lately. At the age of 80 years he is
one of the most optimistic men in
Decatur county, and is ever ready
with a cherry word and bright hope.
He had not been here long ere he had
palled up with another young man of
86, Judge Askins, both enjoyed music
by the Orphans band which was play
ing on the Square. Mr. Emanuel is
the father of our fellow-townsmen,
James H. and John H. Emanuel.
APPOINTED AGENT
OFFARMLOANCO.
Mr- John Roberts, of this City,
Is Named to Represent The
Stout Farm Agency, Inc., in
This Section of the State.
Mr. John Roberts of this city has
just received announcement of his
appointment as local manager of the
E. A. Stout Farm Agency, Inc., which
has established a selling office in
Bainbridge. The effect of this step
will be to give Bainbridge represent -
tation in the largest farm selling or
ganization in the world.
The appointment as representative
of the Stout Agency carries with it
unusual opportunities for the devel
opment of a profitable farm broker
age business, and the man receiving
such an appointement must usually
have shown qualifications in that line
which justify his selection for the
post. Mr. Roberts is therefore to eb
congratulated upon his appointment.
The establishment here of a Stout
Agency should be of distinct advan
tage to this community. That agen
cy has general offices in the princi
pal cities of the United States and
Canada to reach farm buyers, con
ducts an extensive advertising cam
paign, and has more than six hun
dred local selling representatives in
the leading farming districts. This
new move should result in bringing
to this section numerous farm pur
chasers withmoney to invest in farms
which have been abandoned,*or should
bring new owners, new blood and
new capital to farms which now are
in operation. The community will
profit from this evidence of enter
prise.
One method by which the Stout
Agency has attracted new families
to farms in sections where they have i
established agencies is by the publi
cation of a sectional catalog describ
ing farm properties in that section
and distributing them to thousands
of farm seekers and home seekers
in the United States, Canada and in
foreign countries.
Wherever a man is seeking a
farm, this catalog telling of the ad
vantages of that section is placed
before him. This has often resulted
in bringing new life into that terri
tory. It should so operate here.
