fifty six dollars, with interest from date of notes

been sold to Hitt & Cos., of Macon, for
$2,000.
The pharmaceutists’ examining com
mittee will meet in Atlanta on the 12fh
of April for the purpose of examining

The ordinary of Hancock county is

ofß9 years last Saturday. It was done
under protest.
Pernet Truitt, of Winces county, once
wagoned cotton to Philadelphia, and
brought back dry goods on the return
trip. He is now in his eighty-eighth
year.
In Ilart superior court 250 jurymen
were challenged before a jury could be
obtained for the trial of William Doaby,
charged with the murder of the late
marshal of Hartwell.
A man with an ox cart from Chero
kee county, N. C., a distance of one hun
dred and thirty miles, was in (Gainesville
recently, getting his year’s supply of
goods. He was five days in coming.
A negro who was supposed to be one
of the two who broke jail in Danielsville
last week was arrested in Lexington on
Monday last and placed in jail. Fifty
dollars reward was offered for his cap
ture.
A penniless stranger, who claimed to
have two sdns in Atlanta, died In the
guard house at Ripley a day or two ago.
He was the first person to die in fhe
town. Although comfortably dressed he
left no effects by which his identity could
be established. As Ills life ebbed away
he found strength to gasp that he was a
painter by trade*
