Hero Without Honor.
An anecdote about lien, Milos
concerns an innocent professional.
It was in on uptown hotel, says
tho Philadelphia Lodger. A num
ber of men were gathered around
listening to the speaker, n slender
and rather magnetic man.
“Ye*,''he was saying, “I was
in the'midst of it at Santiago!”
“Were the Spaniards good
fighter*?’’
“Rather. Rut I took five of
them unaided—officers, too — in
Cuba, and two more in Porto
R ico.
“May I ask who you are?” in
quired the general.
“Yes, indeed. I'm Mr. Cline*
dinst. the photographer, from
Washington, and I took you, too,
in Porto Rico.”

Dr. Miles’ Nervine Cured
Me Permanently.
Nervous prostration is the most serious of
nervous disorders. It ari.u hou some extra
strain, which robs tlie nen <4 th,
vit I it v and life. The patient r; . h i s
self control, is subject to frightful I.. alaclicsi,
faints)) 11s, melancholia tind morbid ten 1 n-
cies. l'oo weak to drag the thin, wasted
body around; unable to pet deep or rest, life
seems scarcely worth the living; the mind
frequently broods until it become; unbal
anced and insanity often results. Head what
Dr. Miles’ Nervine did for Mrs. (Irabili:
“I was terribly afflicted with nervous
tre ’<* for nearly four years. I was so bad
at ti, that 1 could not help myself, nor
carry a chair across the room without giving
out. One physician attended me for a year
and a half without giving me any help what
ever and 1 also doctored with two others
without any good results. Mv father and
others wished me to try Dr. Miles' Nervine
which, after lots of coaxing 1 did. I took six
bottles of the Nervine and some of the Nerve
and Liver l’ills. 1 was completely cured of
my trouble and 1 heartily recommend it to
any woman who is suffering from a nervous
disorder. I have used Dr. Miles’ Anti-Pain
Pills for headache and neuralgia with best
results. 1 believe thinly in the efficacy of the
Nerve and Liver Pills and am fully convin
ced that Dr. Mile.-.' Remedies saved my
life.”—Mrs. IIattie Grauiil, Roanoke, Va.

A Boomerang Sermon.
The little English vicar Hcxlon,
whose objection to high church
ritualism brought him recently in
to conflict with Bishop Pottct in
New York, sat one day in the cafe
of the Fifth Avenue Hotel, says
the Boston Post.
A group of reporters surround
od him. One of the reporters
snid:
“Why don’t you try to drown
ritualism, Mr. Fillingham, with
sermons, rather than with vio
lencc?”
The vicar smiled. “Sermons,”
ho snid, “have an effect always,
but too often this effect is the op
posite one to what the sermonizer
intended.”
“How do you mean, sir?” the
reporter asked.
“I’ll illustrate to you what I
mean,” said the vicar. “J once
had it parishioner who was ti miser.
For this man's benefit 1 preached
one Sunday a strong sermon on
the necessity of charity, or phil
anthropy—a sermon on tho duty
and the joy of giving. The miser,
at whom I gazed often, scorned
impressed.
“Next day I met him on the
street,
“ ‘Well, John,’ I said, ‘what do
yon think of yesterday’s sermon?’
“ ‘It moved me deeply, sir,’ he
answered. ‘It brought home to
turn beggar.’ "
“Cloves,” said a. physician,
"‘make an excellent and lmndy
remedy for nausea, for the head
ache due to train rides and for
slight attacks of seasickness. 1
went abroad last year, and on the
boat the first day out I began to
feel the approaches of seasickness.
I took a clove every hour all the
rest of tho day, and by midnight
the attack had left me, and it did
not return again. My wife is much
given to indigestion, particularly
when she eats pastry, but exper
ience has taught her that she
may now eat pastry with im
punity, provided that she swal
lows a clove now and then for
(i several hours after the meal.”

A Physician Hcalstl, Now Prescribes 5t Dally
Dr. Geo. Ewing, a practicing physician at Smith’s
Grove, Ky., for over thirty years, writes his personal
experience with FOLEY’S KIDNEY CURE: “For years
I have been greatly bothered with kidney and bladder
trouble and enlarged prostate gland. I used everything
known to the profession without relief, until I commenced
to use FOLEY’S KIDNEY CURE. After taking three bot
tles 1 was entirely relieved and cured. I prescribe it now
daily in my practice and heartily recommend its use to all
physicians for such troubles, for I can honestly state I have
prescribed it in hundreds of cases with perfect success.”
Had to Gat Up Several Times Every Night
Mr. F. Arnold, Arnold, la., writes : “ I was troubled
wan kidney disease about three years. I was nervous
and all run down, and had to get up several times during
tne night, but three bottles of FOLEY’S KIDNEY CURE
effected a complete cure. I feel better titan I ever did
and recommend it to my friends.”
