Last week Watson “Parks, who
resides in Dawson county but

a compromise and the . case was
settled by him paying her about

is a prettyjjsevcre charge, and one
which will not likely be overlook
ed by the grand jury. Really it is
tho first time we ever heard of
such a thing as a compromise in a
case like this.
Uncle John Beck, who has been
residing in one of the tents at the
Dahloncga camp ground, had the
misfortune of getting his place of
abode and everything he possess
ed, destroyed by tiro one day last
last week. He was out chopping
wood and while his wife bad gone
out to where be was at the struc
ture caught and burned, destroy
ing all they possessed exce|t :
what they had on. They are old
and penniless and Mr. Beck was a
confederate soldier. Anything

A few days ago Jim Mincy, of
Lumpkin county, was arrested on
a warrant sent, here from Gilmer
charging the defendant with mis
demeanor in that county and lodg
ed in jail, and on Saturday
the sheriff of Gilmer came and
started back with Jim, going by
his home, where doubtless a satis
factory bond was made.
