yes,’’ said the minister. Good
remarks made about a person du

But wait, until they are dead is
like throwing chaff to the wind.
It's lost.
We don’t believe in a man let-
ling his wife run his business. Let
each look after their own affairs in
business. If a husband has too
many sweethearts it is -.veil enough
for the wife to lay in her objec
tions. And if the wife has more
than the law allows, it would not
be improper for tire husband to
speak out in mild terms, and not
make a fuss that will alarm all the
neighbors, because people, espe
cially women, lovo to spread such
news about their sex more than
they do men unless he js 4 preacher
or a class leader.

Dr. N. F. Howard, one of the
best men that ever lived in Dali*
louega, passed away long years ago,
once told us of an old preach
er who used to visit eycry home in
the neighborhood and have prayer.
If he thought the occupants of a
home vv.ere religious and lived up
to the laws of God and man, his
prayer was mild, soft and mellow.
If not he would turn on the pow
er and speak loud and long. One
day after learning that two boys,
belonging to parents, members
of the church, had gotten into a
little trouble, he called to have
prayer. It was out in the coun
try. Being cold the door was
closed. The boys were present
and all the rest of the family. So
the old brother set iu. He had a
strong voice, and used it, get
ting louder and louder, at the same
time striking the table with his
fist, making such a noise that the
dogs put their feet up on the win
dow sills, looked in and began
howling. This in connection with
the very high tone, being
so unusual at this home that, the
chickens cackled and the cats left
out, causing tho neighbors to
quiet iy assemble to learn what it
meant. They pooped in at the
w ndow, saw and heard the good
oid preacher trying toget the Lord
to forgive the boys for their sinful
act. Then putting on their bon
nets, stepped oil tho porch and
were gone.

Quite a number of mines in our

Why didn’t the owners of this
property work the mine if it is
so rich? We may be asked. They
didn’t have to, but got some in
experienced person to come down
and try it. it is not every fel

a gold mine successfully. But
when Mr. Carmichael took hold
