his name be kept out of the state
primaries.
We see where a fellow has con
fessed to poisening race horses up
in Illinois. What in the devil is
going to happen next?
A bill to pay former Federnl
Judge Tillman, of Georgia, Jp 15,-
7oi as Salary has passed the
house. Quite a nice sum for
pocket change.
It is reported that Rev. H. D.
Young, the missing Pastor at
Waycross, lias been found down
n Florida. Don’t know whether
this one is guilty of anything or
not.
Persens who were not 2l the
1st day of January do not have to
pay any poll tax this year, yet
they can register before or by the
5th day of May and vote in the
general election.
We understand that smallpox
has broke out at the lumber camps
up in White county, and the peo
ple '.here arc like the Irishman’s
graveyard: Those in can’t get
out. Aiii those out don’t want to
get in.
All wh6 have money had belter
not take any risk of hiding it
about the house. Only a few
nights ago robbers entered the
house of a widow lady at Knox
ville, Tenn., and murdered the oc
cupant by pouring acid down her
throat.
It might be well enough for ev
ery person disqualified to vote to
make himself right by Saturday.
May the 5th, if lie or she wishes
to vote in the general election on
the bth of November, as the law
requires the registration book to
close six mouths before the gener-
al election.
We notice that the grand jury
of White in the presentments
find the roads in bad condition
on account of the winter rains,
just like they are in Lumpkin, al
though hundreds of dollars have
been spent in throwing dirt in the
mud holes every time the sun shin
ed out, making them larger.
We find that the editor of the
Dahlonega (Ga.) Nugget is still
alive and kicking. And writing
just as interesting fi paper as ever.
Ilis frankness is overwhelming,
and that is the very best reason he
is so popular. You Florida edi
tors who do not exchange with the
Nugget are missing something.—
The Duunelon (Fla.) Truth.
The law of i9o8 says that all
candidates must file their expense
account with the Clerk of the
Court within twenty days after a
primary election. Wednesday,
the 24th, was the last day for the
Lumpkin county candidates. We
are asked what is done with can
didates who tail to comply with
the law. The penalty is * — 11
as a misdemeanor.

We notice from the Atlanta Jour
nal that the girls of the High
schools in that city have decided
to go to work. This is a wise de

it will be a great advantage for
them to know how to work wheth
er they have to or not.

As the law has been changed in
the sentence of a person convict

suggest what sentence the defend

which is causing killings to in

next time we are on the jury, and
such a case comes up and a ver

the bailiff kicking his stern, and
then turn him loose, which would
cut out all expense and trouble.

Quite a lot of business was dis
