The burglars broke into nn At
lanta store the other night and
only got loo pennies, showing that
their labors were awarded in such
B small way that they ought to
change their occupation and take
up an honest one.
Years ago the one who made the

the females to be the most fancy
dancers.
The Grand Opera iu Atlanta has
been attracting much attention.
Yet the words of the songs of the

hundreds who attend any more

We are requested by Mrs. J. M.
Ricketts and daughter to return

The governor of Florida seems
to be fond of traveling, especially
when it comes out of the tax pay
ers pockets as given by the Gads
den County Times of that state,
being $5,003.21 last year.
The rains have been so extensive
in many parts of South Georgia
We noticed la-t week where Dr.
Seymour,J who was Presi
dent of the Presbyterian Hospital
In China, was shot to death by a
Chinese soldier. The editor of the
Nugget will never be hurt by any
one in that country, because we
believe such a large number us re
sides there ought to be able to take
care of themselves.
Last week Frank Lockhart, who
was trying to break the world’s
speed of 2o7-5 miles per hour in
Florida, Was hurled 30 feet to his
death while making 200 miles an
hour by the tire of his vehicle
giving way. The Lord in creat
ing the world had no idea that any
one would be foolish enough to un
dertake such a foolish drive as
this.
It was stated last week that
bandits had slaughtered over 5,000
Chinese men, womeu and chil
dren at Kingman a city of 600,000
inhabitants. It is not sta
ted whether the American mis
sionaries bad them saved and pre
pared to enter heaven or not. If
so they had better return and do
some work at home and take enre
of the people of this country be
fore the place is crowded.
An Act was passed by the legis

the duty of the State Board of
Game and Fish to prohibit fishing

that county so recommends. The
c osed season is not uniform, so
the authorities itt this Department
Keport. We have received notice
that the closing period for Lump-
kill is April, May and June. But
we will state that they are ahead
of time with their information. No
grand jury has ever made any
such a recommendation in Lump
kin county. If as much attention
was given for the protection of
people s lives and property as
there is a fisli o: a darned old ’por-
Biim there \v<*uld be less crime
committed. We neither fisli or

the stranger’s pockets and a letter
having no envelope, wriiten by his
sister from some place in North
Carolina addressing him only by
bis given name and among other
things written said she felt like
she would hear of his death.
As the money derived for gas
tax in accordance with ail act of
the last legislature, goes for build
ing highways it causes a lot of
money to have to be borrowed lor
the state to meet demands, cas -
es pensioners and others slow in
getting their funds when due. We
notice that one loan of $ 1 ,So7,ooo,
and another of $650,000 already
has been made for school purpo
ses, and another for $<‘>50,000 is ar
ranged to be made right away, all
at the rate of 4.25 per cent inter

suffering from pellagra, aged 53,

daughters, oue of the latter just
recovering from a severe spell of
fever, cau sing her father to keep
going no doubt when he ought to
have been in bod, likely working

to Porter Springs, together

Tho natural scenery at Porter is
grand, which has been enjoyed by
thousands of peoplo since the med
icinal properties of the water of
this noted spring which flows from
the foot of Cedar Mountain, was
discovered many years ago. Be
ing near where Prof. Cain was
born and reared, caused him to
make a talk, giving a history of
the place, which was full of inter-

it h;i l been such a lively summer
resort, crowded with people from
all parts of the country.

The Nugget does not club with
auy other paper. Should the
time come when we can’t make
the paper worth the subscription
price without offering premiums
to get people to take it we will va
cate our stool at the case, buy
some false teeth and a jewsliarp
and endeavor to make a living by
offering the peopla musical euter-

Quite a number of persons went
down to Cummiug Saturday night
to see W. D. Patterson, of the N.
G. A. C. and one of the Tech have
a fight, which resulted in the for
iner knocking the latter out on the
fourth round. Having seen many
real fights take place on the streets
of Dahlonega, together with one
killing, during our time, satisfied
us without goiug as far as Cutu
rning through such cold weather as
it was Saturday night to see a
fight of this kind just for amuse
ment.
An airplane made its appearaucc
over Dahlonega in the forenoon of
Monday, creating much interest as
many of our citizens had never
seen one before. It appeared in
an easterly course. Then sailed
round over the the place so the oc
cupants could see and their airship
be seen, we suppose. Then left in
the direction of Atlanta, causing
all the little birds to fly away and
hide. Later a message from Goly
Tate, Atlanta, one of the four
in the plane, stating that they
left the Candler field, some ten
miles below that city, came up
and sailed all around over Walker
Moulitain and Neel’s Gap and
back, a distance of some three
hundred miles, in three hours and
half.
Several days ago Fred Gravitt

let hitting Gravitt’s car, who got
busy with his pliers, bruising up
some of the party iu such a man
