Little Billie Upshaw challenged
Gov. Bilbo of Mississippi, for a
joint debate. When the Gov
ernor heard about it I10 told him
he had “no time to waste, to go
home and straighten yourself out
with home folks,” showing that
tho little man who delights to
make a noise will have to do like
a school boy preparing his speech
for commencement—get out in the
woods where 110 one will hear it.
It would be just as effective and
give no one the bellyache.

electric fans to keep you cool

The freshet up in Yahcola Dis
trict some time back was a big (le
st ruction to the cabbage crop. Rev.
Martin Grizzle had 11,000 washed

beginning to head.
M r. John Stargel’s little boy lias
been very sick for some time, need
ing liis father’s presence nil the

neighbors pitched in and saved it
for him. It is a great pleasure
for a person to live among peopl
who come to each others aid in
time of distress.
A gentleman residing down the
country in writing said lie imngin
ed that the editor of the Nugget
was very feeble, juding from the
picture lie saw in the papers. If
the writer was to see 11sat a dance,
chasing grasshoppers for fish bate
or running our Vaugn press by
band lie would not think so. When
getting tickled we laugh till we
cry. When fix ng to have that pic
tore taken we saw something fun
ny and was just finishing up our

Stargel pressed the button.
Fields, of Athens, who played
011 two sides, soon got into trou
ble. He is the one who was in tho
liquor carat Siloam with the other
who was captured, and Fields got
away, and upon his return at Ath
ens joined the revenue force. This
caused his captured partner to tell
who he was and where lie
was at. Which sqon resulted in
the man Fields being in Lumpkin
county jail without enough friends
to make him a bond. Showing
that it is best for a fellow to be on
one side or the other, and the ket
tle not to call the pot. blacky.
The gentlemen representing the
Agricultural department, the State
College of Agriculture, the Geor
gia Association, the Southern Rail
way were here last Friday in the
court house who gave a live stock
demonstration, touching upon oth
er things of interest to the far
mer ana others. Of course we all
know that it takes a good stock of
chickens, hogs and cattle to give
the best results. But this they
won't do without plenty of the
best food am.l good attention. And
ditty eggs or fruit or palotoes will
not sell as well as those that are
clean and nice. Nothing. Not
even rags when they used to be
brought in and sold to make paper.
If not washed clean they were not
bought. The visiting instructors
were C. H. Bishop, \V. P. Clark
and II. C. Bates. These gentle
men gave out much valuable in
formation, being well posted on
the subjects they discussed.
We received a message from Ya-
hoola District staling that they
have a combination minister up
there. Didn’t give Ids name. He
was installed as a Baptist for the
purpose of delivering the Baptist
doctrine alone, yet he goes to the
Pentecost’s place of service and
talks to suit them there, which
makes us think of the McDonald
listers, residing near Dahlonega,
who have a lien-rooster chicken
which crows and lays eggs both.
Now a hen is worth moie than a
rooster in market, but can't tell
the value of this kind of a fowl —
except for a show. Same way by
this nnn, because 110 one h s sv'd

on Sunday, which may cut the
value of his sermons down to less
than a nickel, because the next
time he got up in the pulpit after
that said lie didn’t feel like ptench-
