Well, it’s all over. Do you sup
pose there can be enough praying
done to save the campaign liars ?
The editor of the Nngget wish
es to extend his sincere thanks to
the ❖otef's of Lumpkin for electing
him to the office of Ordinary again
being the 5th time, who will be
found ready to serve you at any
tiihd; either day or night.
At Grovelnnd, Fla., they are
waiting for a cashier to return to
give them the combination to see
if he left anything in the box. Our
notion is they had better make
other arrangements about gettiug

Wo notice that the usual plea of
insanity in cases of murder is go
ing to be the move made by the
attorney’ who is employed to de
fend the two boys in Atlanta, who
after being arrested, acknowledged
that 1 they committed murder. If
there was no 'asylum what steps
would bank robbers and murder
ers take?
The election is over but it will
take a life time for the bitter feel
ing that arose between members
of the church during the cant
paign to die out—never. And
the prayers of those ministers who
dropped the religious work anJ
made an ass of themselves for or
against any candidate or party
will never beany benefit to them
selves or any one else, is our opin
ion about it. Not if tbe prayer
only asked for a stouebruise to be
removed from some boys foot.
Last week tbe midwest was vis

making it very uncomfortable for
the residents of that country.

T uesilny’s Election.
The great national election
come and gone and is a thing of
the putft, and all the political pub
lic demonstrations nre at an end
lor some time to come. Mr, Hoov*
is not only elected by an over
whelming majority but succeeded
in breaking the solid South on ac
count of the democrats being split
tip the worst they ever were be
fore. Georgia stood the storm and
came out all right. »So did Lump
kin county. Yet many didn’t yote
as there were only 984 ballots cast.

Any church notice or anything
concerning the College or other
things of interest to the public
generally would be published in
the Nugget free of charge if given
to us in time with much pleasure.
But wo do not like to hunt around
on a tree or building in search of
such news. It is too much like a
dog in search of a bone. YVe nev

It becomes our duty this wcekjto
chronicle another sad, unexpected
death, being that of Mrs. M. C.
Chester,’which occurred last Fri
day morning at her home a few
miles from town while she was
eating breakfast. Although hav
ing been complaining some for
quite a while, Mrs. Chester attend
ed Sunday school and likely church
on Sabbath morning previous to
her death, said she felt bettyr
that morning, and she and their
youngest son were eating when
Mr. Chester left to go to work be
yond town here on the road, leav
ing out iu a car, had not gotten
much more than out of sight when
the lady was touched by the cold
hand of death and fell over at the
table. The lonely son ran out and
yelled until neighbors canto. A
message was sent to tnvn by some
one passing in >1 truck, and Mr.
Cain rushed on, overtook and
broke the sad news 10 Mr. Ches
ter. The deceased was a Christian
lady, been a member of tbe Metho
dist church for many years, whose
remains were placed at rest in the
cemetery at Wesley’s Chapel on
Saturday following in the presence
of a large concourse of peoplo. Ser

An earthquake was felt by sev

said it lasted about two minutes,

Wo teceived ft letter last week

copy of the Nugget. The Nugget
is read by people in every part of
the country.

Mr. T. M. Lunsford, Game Ref

and subscribed for the Nugget last
Saturday, in order to have some
thing to read up on the Blue Ridge

on this property by the govern

We understand the negro school
teacher here is tick, and has rent
up a substitute to act in her place,
who we learn has already beat the
blood out of some of the girl pu
pils. The lav£' forbids whipping
convicts, who are serving out a
sentence for rf crime, much less
drawing blood from a pupil at
school with a hickery. The Board
ought to take the matter up and
get a teacher who is not so blood
thirsty.
The citizens of Lumpkin from
all reports have more hogs this
year than at any time for tbfariy,
expecting to raise their own meat.
This is a move in the right direc
tion. We would like to see the day
again when people could cook
beans and cabbage with a big piece
of meat ou top of the dish of
elthor when put upon the table, in
stead of having to go to the stores
for every bite of meat and stuff
called lard, most of it made out of
cottonseed. There are but few
who can’t raise and fatten a hog
or two.
The “Zander-Gump Wedding”
at the College on Thursday night
of last week was well attended and
the ‘ performance” pleasing to all
present. The proceeds amounted
to a little more than $02, which
went for the benefit of the Metho
dist. Parsonage. We were not
011 hand but contributed our .-hare
before it occurred in printers ink
and snored while it was going on,
having already married 202 coup
les ourselves, aportion of them do-
doing well, while others
went to the bad. But we are not
responsible as there was no insur

We were much pleased last week
