THE COFFEE COUNTY PROGRESS, DOUGLAS, GEORGIA When a Goose Lays an Egg During a moment when he was facetiously disposed the late Andrew Lang observed: “When a goose 'ays an egg, she just waddles; off as if she was asham ed of it because she is a goose. When a hen lays an egg ah, she calls heaven and earth to witness. The hen is a natural born advertiser. Hence the demand for hen’s eggs ex ceeds the demand for goose eggs, and the hen has all the business she can attend to. This homely philosophy hits the bu!ls’s-eye in the advertising propo sition. It shows that even among the denizens of barnyard it pays to advertise. Not only does the lien herself call attention to her product, but her enthusiasm is con tagious. It stirs a sympathetic and responsive chord among the other little brown hens and little red roos ters, and her cackles and duckings are taken up and repeated again. Sometimes, even, the hens and roos ters in the next yard will be moved by the clamor, and thus the tidings spread going, often, far from home The goose overlooks these fine de tails, and her egg, just as toothsome and a great deal larger than hen eggs, have no prestige. They are simply goose eggs. In an advertising way, are you a goose, Mr. Merchant? If so, then go to the hen. study her ways and be wise. Railroad CaFe Change Hands. On last Monday the Railroad Cafe, on Ward street, was sold by F. S. Cate 3toA. K. Spencer. Mr. Cates found that his other business almost entirely consumed his time and thus made it impossible to give the Cafe the time and attention needed. Mr. Spencer is a well known em ployee of the Georgia & Florida shops and is a kind and corteous gentleman. Mrs. W. H. Edenfield will be in ac tive control and management of the business and knowing the hospitable habits of Mrs. Edenfield, we have no hesitency in predicting success for the Railroad Cafe. Mr. C. C. Floyd, who is operating the gin at Oberry, was in town on business Wednesday.
