interesting Card From H. M. Meeks. Editor Coffer Coi nty Progress: I am asking 1 space in your paper for an explanation of the item ap pearing in your issue of last week, which is. to a certain extent, mis leading, viz the election of Rev. A. B. Finley as evangelist of the Smyrna Association, who the item state has just closed, temporarily, a very suc cessful tent meeting in your town. The correction sought, is that Rev. A. B. Finley has no connection what ever with the Smyrna Association. At one time he was an ordained min ister with us and a member of the Douglas Baptist church. About five years ago questions arose touching his moral and religious character for which it is said he was excluded from said church as the record will show, also about this time a few weak churches attempted to organize themselves into a separate associa tion and into this new organization Rev. Finley, in some way, obtained membership. The new body was named, as well as l remember, “The Old Home As sociation.” At its next meeting a resolution prevailed to change the name to the Smyrna Association which name they have claimed until their last session, at the old Carver Church, about two months ago, when they disagreed among them selves and “split” again, each fac tion this time clinging to the old name, “Smyrna.” Rev. Finley’s present membership, we understand, is with this latest “slab-off” which advocate “Holiness, Open Commu nion, Divine Healing,” etc,, things for which Baptist do not stand for REAL ESTATE Cottages for sale or rent.
