purchased an interest in the City
Plumbing and Electric Co., he has
moved here and will be permanently
connected with same.

land has been for the past three
months under medical treatment.

Zdr. J. A. Davis, of Kite, Ga.‘ is in
the city this week looking after his
cattle business. We understand that
he contemplates moving to Douglas.
Mrs. Harvey Wells Barrett receiv
ed a few friends at her home Monday
afternoon in honor of her grand
mother, Mrs. A. P. Cundiff, whose
seventy-fourth birthday it was. Mrs
Cundiff greeted her friends from her
roller chair with the usual sweetness
and cheerfulness that eharcterize her
life. A two course luncheon was
served to the guest, who were:

Yesterday Henry Thomas, who
works for Jim Stalvey as driver,
picked up on one of the streets of
the city a dynamite cap and in hand
ling-, it exploded, lacerating his hand
so badly that the physicians hand to
amputate one of his fingers. The
dynamite cap is as tricky as a mule
and more care should be taken by
those that use them.

Mrs. McLean Entertains.
The Reception at which Mrs. John
McLean entertained Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph W. IV'well on Thursday eve
ning was a beautiful affair to which

The handsome McLean home has
recently been remodled on the in
terior, and is magnificient in its new
| furnishings and draperies. Its beauty
on this occassion was enhanched by
the use of pink roses and pink carna
| tions in profussion. Refreshments in
! three courses were served the guests.

| Mrs. McLean received her guests in
white satin, brocaded in purple roses,
while Mrs. Powell was lovely in a
gown of pink satin.
The Qui Vive Club Meets.
Miss Della Lott was the charming
hostess to the Qui Vive Club on
Thursday afternoon. There were
present Misses Beatrice McDonrld,
Lovie Turner, Mary Stanton and
Mrs. Thurman Whatley, of Reynolds.
