Submitting a propeed amendment
to the Constitution of Georgia, to be
voted on at the general state election
to be held on Wednesday, October 7th,
1914, said amendment providing for
the creation of the county of Bacon,
and for other purposes:

Whereas, The General Assembly at
its session in 1914 proposed an amend
ment to the Constitution of this State
as set forth in an act approved July
27th, 1914, towit:
An Act to propose to the qualified
electors of this State an amendment
to paragraph two, of section one, of
article eleven, of the Constitution ol
this State as amended by the ratifi
cation by the qualified voters of this
State of the Act approved July 19.
1904, and further amended by the rat
ification. by the qualified voters of
this State of an amendatory Act ap
proved July 31st, 1906, and for other
purposes:
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the
General Assembly of the State or
Georgia that the following amend-'
ment is hereby proposed to paragraph
2, of section 1. of Article 11, of the con
stitution of this State as amended
by the ratification by the qualified
voters of this State of the Act
of July 19th, 1904 and further
amended by the ratification by
the qualified voters of this State
of an amendatory Act approved
July 31st, 1900, to-wit: by adding to
said paragraph the following language
Provided, however, that in addition to
the counties now provided for by the
Constimton of the State »*f Georgia,
there.shall he a new county laid out
from the counties of Appling, Pierce
and Ware, that the name of said coun
ty shall be Bacon, and the bounderies
shall be as follows: Commencing at
the Southwest corner of the county
of Appling, where it corners with tVare
and Coffee Counties, being at the
Southwest corner of land lot 471 of
the Fifth district of Appling county,
and running thence north along tin
dividing lines between the Counties ot
Appling and Coffee to the sou tu west

that the said county shall be attached
to the Eleventh Congressional District
and to the Waycross Judicial Circuit
and to the Third Senatorial District.
That all the legal voters residing in
the limits of said County of Bacon,en
titled to vote for members of the Gen
eral Assembly under the laws of Geor
gia. shall on the first Tuesday in Jan
uary, 1915, at Alma, Ga., the County
Site of said county, elect an Ordinary
a Clerk of the Superior Court, a Sher
iff, a Coroner, a Tax Collector, a Tax
Receiver, a County Surveyor, a County
School Superintendent, and a County
Treasurer. The limits of said Codnty
the Congressional and Senatorial Dis
tricts and the Judicial Circuit to which,
it is added shall be as above designa
ted until changed by Jaw. The Super
ior Court of said County shall be held
on the third Mondays of March and
October.
SECTION 3. Be it further enacted
That when this proposed amendment
shall be agreed to by two thirds of the
members elected to each of the Houses
and shall have been entered on the

months before the next general elec
ion to held on the first Wednesday in
October, 1914; and he shall also pro
ide for the submission of the pro
posed amendment at the said general
lection, and if said proposed amend
aent shall be ratified by a majority
>f the electors qualified to vote for
aembers of the General Assembly,
-uch amendment shall become a part
f the Constitution of Georgia.
SECTION 4. Be it further enacted,
That it shall be the duty of the Gover
nor to submit said amendment to the
legally qualified electors of said elec
tion in the following form: that those
voting in favor ol' said proposed
amendment shall have written or prin
ted on their tickets “In favor of ratifi
cation of the amendment to the Cons
titon, creating the County of Bacon,
with Alma as the County Site,” and
those opposed to the ratification of
said amendment shal have written or
printed on their tickets, “Opposed to
the ratification of the amendment to
the Constitution creating the Count./
of Bacon, with Alma as the Count*
Site.”
SECTION 5. Be it further enacted,
By the authority aforesad, that all
laws and parts of laws in conflict with
this act be, and the same are hereby
repealed.
Now, therefore, I, John M. Slaton,
Governor of said State, do issue this
my proclamation hereby declaring
that the foregoing proposed amend
ment to the Constitution is submitted
for ratification or rejection to the vo
ters of the elate qualified to vote for
members of the General Assembly at
the General Election to be held on
Wednesday, October 7th. 1914.

WHEREAS, after said Proclama
tions were issued the General Assem
bly by Act changed the date of the
next General Election from Wednes
day, October 7, 1914, to Tuesday, Nov
ember 3, 1914, it is therefore
ORDERED: That each of the afore
said Proclamations be amended in the
following manner, to-wit:
That wherever the words “at the
General Electionto be held on Wed
nesday, October 7th, 1914" appears,
the words “at the General Election to
be held on Tuesday. Novmber 3rd, 1914

submit said proposed emendments to
