GIGANTIC MEMORIAL.
Stone Alountain Monument Will Be
World Wonder.
On the side of Stone mountain the
greatest and most unique monument
ever under uiketi in the history of the
world was d dieated to tin* memory
of the heroes in gray who fought for
the ('olifedi racy in the war between
the stall s.
Fully -0,000 people went to Stone
mountain to attend the dedicatory
exercises, which formally launched
■the jdan to* carve into the great
tcviinite face of Stone mountain a
grotto of heroic tigur* s which will
constitute the memorial.
Tlie memorial is to he carved into
the side of the mountain under tlie
supervision of Gutzon Belgium, the
great American sculptor, and will
consist of it group of equestrian tig
tires, including Generals Lee. Jack
son, Forrest and other great Confed
erate soldiers, followed by cavalry,
artillery and infantry. The figures
will be thirty feet high.
When completed the monument
will be one of tlie wonders of the
world and will cost about $11,000,000.

sion board announced completion of
the Judaon centennial fund of
sl,-50.000 for aiding the foreign mis
sions. This fund was virtually com
pleted last year.

newspapers that the missing women,
who disappeared over two years

Around Verdun the fighting be

Hindenburg has been suggested as the
first governor of the acquired terri

Losses out of all proportion to the

Anniston Girl Kills Self.
Mamie Ktiowlen, aged 17, living

from a walk. No cause can be as
signed for her act.

The Southern Baptist convention
