TO WILLIAM BONE
Father, Thou hast called the wee one,
From this heartstone back to Thee
And we know *tis done in love and
wisdom,
For Thou art wisdom, justice, good
ness, truth. *
Of such is the Kingdom, we’re told
The Kingdom Christ’s children pray
daily to come,
What more could we ask for a fold—
And this fold the home of the soul
Guide us, lead us, use us, Father,
Only make us fit
With these wee sinless, there to
gather
When He call or come for us.—

“TWO SAMMIE COOKS”
We’re two boys of Uncle Sams’
tiding the other boys in tan, we’re
cooks as we say, very important for j
the U. S. A. . |
And to the job we're going to stick, j
until the Kiser Bill is licked.
Without the cooks the boys can’t j
fight.
And serve their country which ‘tis !
right.
And with this thought weYe go
ing to try and feed the boys in ka
khi.
We always like to please each boy,
b-cause it fills their hearts with joy.
To know the cooks are pleased to
do.
Anything to help them through,
and to the cooks they cast a smile
ghat’s not forgotten in a little while.
Each face looking very bright if
the sweet potatoes appear in sight.
Now, to the South we give the
praise for the sweet potatoes that she
raise.
Bless the hands that hoed the grass
and the man that plowed the ass.
You’ve frieuds and kin ‘Over There’
who are helping the French to bear.
Helping France and Belgium too,
make it pay, let’s put them thi'ough.
The idea is to hit every “Hun” that
we can get.
r 'ne bond buys a gun, one gun kills
a “Hun.”
See how nice it will work if we
have no one to shirk.
Oh! the thought is very grand, sine
we have a real good stand.
We expect to hear quite soon, a dif
ferent song and a different tune.
Germany is in the tough since the
American boys got rough.
Kiser Bill take down your aim,
hollow ouit and end the game.
For there’s many more to go, if
we’re needed there you know, and un
less you hollow loud we’ll be number
ed with the crowd.
When the U. S. A. gets thru they
will listen at us too.
The richest nation in the w-orld, the
heroic boys and Red Cross girls.
Look out “Huns" we’re on your
track, and every day you’re driven
back.
No slacker to be proud, when to
victory we are vowed.
He’s nothing good to tell, ’bout
sending Kiser Bill to hell.
We cooks helped fix the nest that
put Kiser Bill to rest.—Composed by
two “Sammie Cooks”
We are glad to see Captain W. A.
Walker able to be out again after
what came near being a serious acci
dent. On last Tuesday the G. & F.
motor car on which he was riding ran
into a log train of the Bray Lumber
Company and he was thrown from the
ar. and severely injured. Mr. A. C.
Jones, watch inspector for the road,
was also thrown from the car and
died the next day in a hospital at
Valdosta.
