THE KU KLUX KLAN
Edited by
EDUCATIONAL COMMITTEE
DOUGLAS KLAN HOST TO NEIGHBORING KLANSMEN
The event staged by the Douglas Klan, Thursday night as usual, went
off with great success. The Klansmen in three groups formed in the shape
of the Cross and with old Glory leading silently marched thus expressing
the Klans united program for 1925 in defence of Protestant Christian Religi
on. They marched through the principal streets ending at the Public
School Auditorium to hear an address for the occasion. The Great Titan
of the province introduced Mr. Nathan B. Forrest Grand Dragon of the
nealm after which Mr. R. A.Moore a prominent attorney of the City and
Ex-Mayor very ably presented the speaker Mr. Lester A. Brown of Atlanta.
This address carried with it the entire spirit of the occasion and general
comment is that it was one of the best ever heard here. One gentleman
who ha 3 not been in that habit of lauding the Klan very high “gave it up”
and said“ Just this about it, if you go around them they will convince you”.
Another was heard to say “You just can’t get around it if the Klan had
not come in ten years our Country would have been controlled by foreigners.”
The Committee on arrangements and eats is to be commended for real
service, there were three kinds of meats and plenty of every kind, the best
coffee ever poured and plenty left.
Our Grand Dragon wa3 present and addressed the Klansmen on Klan
kraft, his address was a masterpiece and had their undevided attention.
He spoke of the tremendous growth of the Klan in this State and the Na
tion, and he gave inside information that made every Klansman proud of
being on the inside.
We want to express our sincere appreciation of the Kindness rendered
by Mr. Henry and the Boys and Girls who made our event a success by
rendering the songs so beautifully fcr us.
STEPPING STONES THAT LEAD
MEN TO FREEDOM IN AMERICA
Free speech, free pres 3, separation of church and state, white supremacy,
the free public school, right of choice in religion, Jesus Christ our Ex
emplar and only Priest. DO YOU believe in these things? So; does the
KU KLUX KLAN.
“100 per cent American” means to be free in body, soul and spirit to respond
to America’s call, regardless of outside authority, whether political or
ecclesiastical. Are you 100 per cent? So is the KU KLUX KLAN.
Consider: Is it not possible any objection to the Klan is due to prejudice or
imperfect information? Do you believe in fair play? So does the KU
KLUX KLAN.
“Whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, do ye even so unto
them.”
What is Klannishness? Teamwork. The Klan is teaching Klansmen to
practice teamwork.
The Klan has had bad men in it—so has the church. But neither organiza
tion intentionally harbors them, protcets them, nor keeps them.
The Klan has made its mistakes—so have governemnts—so ha 3 the church.
Mistakes are the material out of which stepping stones are built to higher
things.
“Let him that is without sin among you cast the first stone.” Since none of
us are prefect, let us all be tolerant.
Is America in danger? To Europeanize our institutions is to kill them; and
this is being attempted by powerful agencies. We place Americans
on guard.
Is America worth saving? Are her institutions worth saving? They are.
The boys who went across think so. The Klan thinks so too.
Many foreign ideas are subtle, but they are more dangerous than dynamite.
You are probably a Klansman at heart and have not realized it. Perhaps
you may oppose a Klan of your imagination, constructed from the ma
terials o' misinformation, or lack of knowledge.
The Klan is not selfish. It is a band of picked volunteers, pledged to help the
110 millions in America. You may not be always for it but it is always
for you.
W culd you condem a church without knowing its doctrines? or a lodge j
without having been initiated into its mysteries? Don’t condem the Klan
until you have been informed by one who knows. Be fair.
The Klan’s favorite book—the Bible; the Klan’s favorite chapter—Romans
12; the Klan’s favorite emblem—the United States flag.
The Priests of his day sought to restrain Peter from preaching what his con
science dictated. His answer to them was: “We ought to obey God
rather than men.
Ideals make nations stable. Ideals are preserved in the lives of people who
belive in them. Support those who have American ideals, that Amer
ican ideals may live.
Exploiter or Builder: Which are you? Are you extracting from America
riches for your personal use, or are you injecting strength for the na
tions life?
Christ said: “The Truth shall make you free.” He also said: “I am the
truth. In Christ-Tru.h men are free. Christ is the Klansman’s
criterion.
G odness. Benevolence, Charity—those and kindred attributes are not on
the list of the competitive. We welcome all movements that are spiri
tually constructive and are at heart unselfish. “Not for self, but for
others.”
The Klan is the conscience of religious America awakened to the necessity
of action. To be dormant in times of stress, is to lack ihe conviction of
faith.
Investigate fv m an official source what the program of the Klan is; ascer
tain whether it posses merit and whether it is worthwhile. Then
reader your verdict. Printed information "Sent on request.
The statement of Gameliel, the lawyer, to the priests, still holds: “Let them
alone; for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to naught;
but if it be of God you cannot overthrow' it, lest haply ye be found even
to fight against God.
€;d has always possessed in cri ieal times a vehicular nation through which
to cauv out hi- plans. 1 hat America is God’s vehicular nation, the
Klan firmly believes. For this reason a Klansmen owes allegiance to
no other power on earth.
Freedom of religion? Yes! But not sect monopoly. Sectarianism may be
religious, but Keligi n is broader than sectarianism. Freedom of reli
gion is freedom from 'sectarianism is Government, no matter the sect.
Keep church and state divorced.
Our country has a gospel all her own to preach before all the world.
That gcspel is he freedom and the divinity of man and the glorious claims
U a universal brotherhood in which the soul’s fealty is t > God alone. It is
a Klan g spel a Nordic race-idea. \ou find it nowhere as strongly, as
overwh Imingly dominant, as in free peoples of the Nordic race-stream. It
chara. erizes those W ho believe and teach it.

How We Can Help Make Your Tobacco
Crop Profitable.
Our six years experience with to
bacco is yours for the asking. It is in
corporated in a brief phamphlet printed
for the benefit of our friends and cus
tomers
We call attention to the wide
spread prevalence of “Sand Down” in
Georgia tobacco fields the past season.
This soil disease attacks the leaf of the
tobacco plant often making it show
white, yellow and green at the same
time while the fibres remain green.
Such leaves make a chaffy worthless to
bacco, and cannot be cured into good
tobacco.
The Agricultura 1 Department of
the United State and of North Carolina
have recognized the destructiveness
of the disease and have w r orked together
to learn its cause and its remedy. The
result of this work is now available.
In accordance with our established
custom to make only the best we have
incorporated in our tobacco fertilizers
this season the ingredient found by
them necessary to overcome “Sand
Down” and at the same time increase
the yield per acre. We have also st
