A Church full of boys and girls
Girls at Douglas.
The second June Council of the
Smyrna Association was held at the
First Baptist church in Douglas,
Thursday, June 4.
From the beginning a truly spirit
ual atmosphere prevailed as the
large auditorium unusually pretty in
its decorations of green and white
was filled by eleven o’clock with boys
girls and women who were happy in
rendering what service they could.
The following program was pre
tided over by Mrs. L. L. Denton, as
sociational young peoples leader, as
sisted by Mrs. E. L. Tanner, Divis
ional young poples counsellor.
“It would not be easy to describe
adequately the beauty and impres
siveness of the morning devotional,
on Heaven which was conducted by
Miss Ruth Carelock, Sunday school
field worker for Smyrna.” Bro.
Wages, pastor of the First Baptist
at Ocilla concluded the devotional for
youth consecration.
The beautiful words of welcome by
Mrs. E. L. Tanner were followed by
yells, songs or brief words from
each organization represented,
response from Sagniaw Sunbeams.
A reading, “The Little Pilgrim” by
Wieda Davis and the piano solo by
Christie Dorminy deserve special
mention. It was ht this juncture

A Co-Operative Effort.
The church in Antioch as a body
helped the poor Saints in Judea. The
churches of Macedonia combined
their gifts to help the situation. We
live in an age of co-operative effort.
Together we establish great orphan
ages, hospitals and create funds for
: aring for the aged ministers. There
is no less obligation to help indivi
dually. The kind-hearted ’neighbor
who goes to the one in tremble ahd
renders personal service is serving
Bod in even a better way than the
:>ne who pays for a trained nurse to
go; but if we depended on personal
service with no united effort many a
hungry orphan would cry in the night
nd many a sick man would not have
he' attention which is needed. When
■ * all p»ul together and do this
ind of work for Christ’s sake there
here will be a new day for the help
less and much joy for God’s people in
endering the service.
