Broxton and vicinity enjoyed a nice
rain Tuesday afternoon. We are
sure it rejoiced many hearts.

The beautiful home of Mrs. A. R.
Lewis was the scene of a miscel
laeous shower last Saturday morning
given in honor of Miss Caroline Cham
bliss whose engagement to Mr. Chris
topher of Douglas was announced
sometime ago. It was a lovely affair,
and many pretty useful gifts were
presented the attractive honoree.
Mrs. A. R. Lewis and Mrs. Homer
Ricketson were hostesses-
Mr. J. H. Milhollin, Sr., and Mr.
Luther Roberts are in Virginia.
Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Poore and chil
dren returned to Brunswick last
Friday after a pleasant visit to their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Wil
cox.
Mr. and Mrs. P. M. England and
children of Haines City, Fla., arriv
ed in town last Wednesday night.
Mrs. C. A. Poer came with them, re
turning home Sunday with her son,
Lauren who joined her here from Ox
ford Academy.
Winnie Pridgen, 13 year old daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom J. Pridgen,
who lives near Broxton, died of ty
phoid fever and was buried at Reedy
