D. J. Berwick, Broxtonj Georgia. 22-29-N5-12d i i BOUND BY BANDIT, DOG FREES YOUTH Atlanta and Fulton county police are searching for a bold burglar who lived up to all the press agents’ ac counts of a house ransacker when he tied Russel P. Cassaday, 15, hand and foot, slugged the youth with something Sussell says must have been a blackjack, and then proceeded to the business of rifling the Cas saday home on Mathieson avenue, near Buckhead. The melodramatic experience of the boy was heightened by the fact that his pet dog, sniffing about the house is said to have found the bound boy, and by tugging at the ropes, freed the burglar’s victim. Police said the housebreaker must have been frightened away, for noth ing was missing from the Cassaday home. Bureau drawers and pockets of clothing had however, been search ed for valuables. Russell’s story of the highly effi cient intruder was that he was alone in the house Saturday night about 7 o’clock and was eating his supper when the burglar suddenly appeared. “He took a long rope I had been using,” said Russell, “and, keeping me covered with a pistol, tied me so I could hardly move. Then he tied a hendkerchief across my mouth so I couldn’t make any noise. He hit me with something and I don’t remember any more until I heard a door slam as he went out.’” Then the dog rushed to the rescue, but Russell believes it was at least two hours from the time of the bur glar’s appearance until he was able to work free with the assistance of his dog. 1 have charge some of the finest lands, both wild and developed in Southern Georgia.
