Special contracts may be made with the superintendent.of transportation for the freight of the following articles,
when in large quantities, without regard to the established rates, viz: Corn, and all kinds of grain ; brick, horsea. mules
and cattle ; iron in bars or pigs, machinery, mill gearing, 3tc.; sawed lumber, mill stones, grindstones, marble or other ar
ticles of stone; salt, firewood, staves, shingles, hay in bundles, barrels tar, pitch or turpentine.
Freight atthe'above rates, or by special contract, to be under the following stipulations, viz :
Nochim for damages -Viirticles transported by this Company unless the packages are examined and identified in
the presence of an officer of the Company before the same are removed from the Depot. Not accountable for the leakage
of liquors, oil .or molasses, breakage of glass or crockery-ware, chafing of bagging, carringej, chairs or furniture. Not ac
countable for breakage of liollowware. No internal injury.rot clearly perceptible on the outside of the package, will be
allowed for, unless established to have occurred on board the car. Not accountable for the decoy of perishable articles.
Not accountable for live stock; and no liability for goods evidently shipped in bad order, or for cooperage of casks or pack-
ages.
Cotton received in good order at the depots, and afterwards torn while in possession of the Company, will be mended
at their expense. All other damage done to Cotton in transitu will be promptly settled at Savannah. It is understood
that this Company will not hold themselves accountable for pillage, or damage by the weather, or otherwise, on any
freight after being landed atthe place ofdestination.
The Company will not be accountable for Passengers’ baggage, unless put in the bsggsge car incharge of the con*
ductor.
The Companv will have agents at stations 8, !0, U, 12,13,14,15, 16. and 17, atid at Macon, to attend to the delivery
and forwarding of gc«ds. All merchandize not to be forwarded will he retained at the respective depots at the head of
the road one week, free of expense, after which storage will be charged at the Savannah rates.
Goods destined for points beyond Macon, will be forwarded by wagons by the Company's agent, free of commissions.
Gunpowder prohibited.

vilege of running an EJCPRES3 over their Road during '■
the present vear, with the privilege of an apartment under j
their own £ock, they offer superior advantages fur the
prompt ami safe conveyance of valuable Articles, Specie,
See. Sec. and are in hopes of being able to make an arrange- I
meet with the Post Office Department, 1 v which they will ;
be allowed tocnrrv a Mail Bag.
They are prepared to receive and forward Goods of all j
descriptions, to and fromSavannah and Macon, and interim*
diate places, and between Savannah and Charleston, with
the greatest safety and despatch ; rnd will also pay particu
lar attention to the purchase of Goods, collection and pay
ments of Drafts, Notes and Bills, and transacting till kinasof
business in the above places.
They have also extended their arrangement to run their
Express by the Southern Boats to Piculata, in Florida, and
intermediate places on that route.
They intend to put on Teams, to ran regularly through
from Macon to Columbus, under theirown charge, to carry
all kinds of Merchandize, with all reanonable despatch and
safety, on ihe first of October next.

of this Company, at Macon, will be received and forwarded from any point of thisRoad, by wagons, to their place of des
tination, free of chmge for Storage or Forwarding.
Colton, Merchandize, or Produce, of any description, will he received by the Company’s Agents, at Griffin, Barnesville
or Forsyth, and forwarded direct to Savannah, free of any charge, other than the regular rates of Transportation. Ar
rangements most be made in all instances, for the payment of Freight and expenses, wilh tlie Company’s Agent at Ma
con. or atthe Depot where the goods ate received ordelivered.
The attention of Merchants and Planters, is solicited to the advantages offered them under the above arrangements, for
shipping their Produce to Market, and obtaining their snpplics. through this cliannelofcominunication with the seaboard.
The Central Rail-Road is now completed and in operation, from Savannah lo within 2} miles of our Depot, and will be
completed to Macon early this fall. This Road is m daily operation to Griffin, CO miles above Macon; and. hy the first
of December, will be opened for Business to Leakvillc,21 miles above Griffin; and to the junctionvrith the Western and
Atlantic Rail-llond, early nextspring. .That portion of the Rond originally laid with tlie thin plate Kail, has been
rebuilt this summer, and laid with heavy flange Rail, and the whole Road from Macon to Griffin, is now in good order for
business.
Merchants living in the upper part of the State, will find it decidedly to their interest, to ship their goods by way cf
Savannah, over the Central and this Rail-Road consigned to our Agents, as goods can be hauled from Barnesville or Griffin,
(to Columbus, for 45 a 50 cents per 100 pounds, or any other part of the country at proportionable rates.
• All goods will be sent forward immediately, unless otherwise ordered.
