JL VKRSAL MEDICINE.—Accurately prepared by
Dr. II. S. Moat, of New York, from the original recipe used

President of the British College nf Health
Twenty yeats' successful administration of these cele
brated medicines in Europe, and more than twelve years in
the United States, have established their high reputation.
Thousands of both sexes, who have been restored t.ihealih

one real disease—impurity olUie blood."
The medicines being composed entirely of herbs or ve
getuble matter, purify ihe blood, nnd carry oft'tbe corrupt
humors of the body, in a maimer so simple as to give every
day ease and pleasure.
The Hvgeian medicines, first introduced into this coun

VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL PILLS.
IIIIIS medicine is acknowledged to be one of the most
I valuable ever discovered as a purifier of the blood
and fluids. It is superior to Snrsnparilln, whether as a su
dorific or alterative, nnd stand* infinitely before all the pre
parations and combinations of Mercury. Its purgative
properties are alone nf incalculable value, for these pills
may he ta ken daily for any period, and, instead of weaken
ing by the cathartic effect, they add strength by taking away
the cause of weakness. They have none of tlie miserable
effects ot that deadly specific, Mercury; The teeth are not
injured—the bones and limbs are not paralyzed—no; but in
stead of these distressing symptoms, new life anil con;e
quent animation is evident ill every movement of the body,
These Pills, for colds, coughs, tightness of the chest,
rheumatism in the be^d or limbs, will be found superior ti
any thing imagined of the powers of medicine; and in hi!
ious affections, dispepsia, anti in all diseases peculiar

have long been known and appreciated in a great va
riety of diseases, and as the best and most impoitant of
Family Medielr es. Dr. Spencer having been actuated l y
a desire to benefit his fellow-beings, has also prepared his
Vegetable Tonic nnd Restorative Bit ers, which he now
offers to the Public, as the result of an extensive practirr
amt n thorough investigation of the laws which govern tha
human system.
In proof of their extraordinary curative properties, a
Urge number of certificates from the most respectable ci'ii.
zensin different section, of tlie Union, might be ap;ended-
but tlie high reputation which Spencer s Vegetable fills
hove acquired, is al! sufti< ient to recommend these Hitters
10 tliesperial notice of the affliurd. They are purely Veg.
etable, and may lie taken with perfect safety bv all a"ej
and sezes, in youthful, adult and declining life. * 0
it is well known that for the promotion of sound health
a well regulated and proportionate quantity of bile spe*
the stomach is always requisite—ie stimulates digestion, ied
keeps tbe intestinal canal free from all obstructions. ’ On
tlie interior surface of tlie liver is a peculiar bladder in
which the bile is first preserved, being forn ed hy the liver
from the blood; thence it p-sses into ike stomach and io-
testifies, and regulates the digestion. Thus we see whes
there is a deficiency of bile, the body is constantly rostivr.
On the other hand, an overabundance of bile causes frrquet.1
nausea iu the stomach and often promotes very severe at.
tacks of disease.
The design of Spencer’s Vegetable Pills, am! Vegetable
Tonic ami Restorative Ritters, is ;o create a flow of pure
healthy (tile, instead of toe stale and acrid kind. This ii
effected hy tlieir salutary action Goon the various organs by
which the bile is formed—and it wiP be seen at once that
the bile must lie healthy or unhealthy, according to the for
mation of the blood; and that the purity «r impurity of the
blond, is owing 10 the formation of ihe Chyle, which pines
into and forms the blond. These Pills aud Billers, by their
beneficial action upon the stomach, causes that iinpeiiai.t
organ to produce a proper quantity nf clnle, aid lieme
tlieir extraordinary powers in purifying the Mocd. rrgula.
ting the various secretions, fn:ming pi re healthy bile, and
so astonishingly assisting digestion, that nearly nine-tenlha
of all diseases are relieved or ei tirely euied by their use.
The object of the Pills is to srimo]a>e all the vital organs
of the system into nrt’on and thereby cleaner ibr sPawrh
and bowels ol all the morbific nnd offensive matter with
which the system is dogged, and which pr< motes disiaia.
The Billers are to stieugthen and restore the m atari! and
vital organs, to tlieir proper tune and vigor. 'When this is
accomplished, good health must, of course, be tlie result.

Extraordinary Proofs nf the rfpraey of Spencer’sPHls
and Restorative Bittirs.
Letter from Dr. Wardling, of South Carolina, dated
Charleston, 8. C.. May 3,1845.
Dr. SrENCtcn—Dear Sir: Having ci nte to this plsrs
fri iu the interior of the State to obtain supply of AIrdiriirs
to use in toy practice, and not finding your Ti uic and Res
torative Bitters here, I have ihooght'fest to write yon Ibr
a supply. I am now iu want of 200 boxes of your Pills
nod 300 bottles of the bit.ers, and wish voulosead dm
immediately to the care of the Rail B«a<t Agent at Colum
bia, and 1 can get them f-otn him. 1 shall be out of my pie-
sent supply before they can possibly arrive. I prrarriL*
about 40 or 30 boxes of the Pills per month, ami alontlO
or 80 bottles of the Bitters. It would undoubtedly be a
satisfaction for you to know that with your pills and bitters
I have cureil seven obstinate rases of PILES which bid
resisted every other remedy that had been prescribed.—
The first was my own case, nf about four years statidirg,
which not only baffled my own skill but that of twootber
ihysicians who advised with me. I only took tl.e pills at
ted time in sulfici, nt quantities to move the bowels, Ml
less than once nor more than twice the next day; and oily
one tattle spoonful of the billers twire a day. about hall so
hour before meals. I continued this course Ibr three wrtls
and found myself cured of a most unpleasant and trouble
some disease.
I then ordered my patients to take the medicines in ice
same w-av. Some of them however were cured in nreb*lT
the time that I was niyceK. Since I commenced prescribe
ing the pills and billers 1 have cuied four patients of firro-

and fever of long standing, ami some 13 or 20 cases of dys
pepsia, besides a great number nf sick headache, weaktiM*
of rite stomach and general debilily.
I would add that I have always been opposed to Pattrl
Medicines generally, and I should never have coautrnin-
ced yours in my pract;. e had it not been for tite remsrkaWa
cure of my own case first. This convinced me that tbe pi.'-'*
nnd bitters must possess very superior virtues: and in jn»-
tiee to the medicine, I will sav. that in a practice 17
years I have never become acquainted with a medicine s»
pleasant ami mild in its action, that was at the same tin.®
so powerful in curing diseases.
I am yours, respectfully.
