!'"|7HE benefits of Cheap Postage will be much felt and

that they can, notwithstanding they may live in the remotest
corner of the Union, procure the advice and medical arsi-t-

in the country, with the greatest certainty, and at a very tri
fling cost; and doubtless the favorable opportunity will not
be thrown away by many wlu.se cases have for years baf
fled the utmost skill of most of the physicians intheir res
pective neighborhoods, but will avail themselves of means
thus placed wiihin their reach, which scientific research

has already stamped approval.
Without subjecting himself to the charge of egotism, the
undersigned may bepermitted withduedeleiencotothe abil

existed of testing the efficiency of his improved sTstkji of
Botanic Medicink, the beneficial results have generally
exceeded his most sanguine expectations; and altliough iu
the nature of things cases must occur, that are beyond the
reach of medicine, yet he doubts not (hat Botanic remedies
properly selected and applied will certainly cure all cura
ble cases.
But least peradventure some of our medical savans in a
paroxysm o! disinterested kindness and pure regard for the
welfare of tlie people (?) should take advantage of this state
ment and denounce it as a "barefaced humbug” or "ar
rant quackery,” as they have been pleased so classically
to style whatever is advanced relative to medicine that is
not a relic of the dark ages, bearing the stamp of the boast,
ed experience of three thousand years; it lias been thought
proper to gi ve such, a chance to show ihe superiority iff their
ihith by their works; and for that purpose the subscriber not
only renews his former proposition for an equal comparison
of practical resulu, but will now allow a diflerenee of ten
to one in their favor, thus: He proposes to hold himself
truly and firmly bound in the sum uf five hcndksd dol
lars to any physician using vegetable or mineral poisons
as remedial agents, who will upon a fair showing exhibit
one real cure of any long liugering case of bodily disease
by these agents for every ten that can be llms exhibited anp
established by him through the agency of innocent vegeta
ble remedies—the whole to be effected in an equal space
of lime—and the said physician binding himself in like man
ner to a like forfeit in ease of failure—the amount to be ap
propriated for tbe purpose of procuring medical assistance
for the poor of the county of Bibb.or given to some chari
table institution, at tlie option of the gainer.
Persons laboring under chronic diease3 of any kind and
wishing to have their cases treated on this new plan, can
have it done hy sending their symptoms iu writing as cor

(85 00) our regular monthly fee, medicines included, when
remedies suited to their various cases will be compounded
and sent by mail to any post-eflice within the United Slates

The subscriber will employ his mornings, erenines or

versal MEDICINE.—Accurately prepared by
Dr. H. 8. Moat, of New York, from tlie original recipe used
or many years by liis late father, Mr. Thomas Moat, Vise
President of the British College of Health
Twenty years' successful administration of these cele
brated medicines in Europe, and more than twelve years in
the United States, have esta(dished their high reputation.
Thousands of both sexes, who have been restored to health
—the numerous sufferers rescued from premature death—
and volume* of.certified cases of cure, embracing every
disease in the long catalogue of human misery; must con
vince the most incredulous, of their superiority and the
truth of the Hygeian theory, resulting from scientific re
search and experience, namely, that “man is subject to only
One res! disease—impurity of the blood.”
The medicines being composed entirely of herbs or ve
getible matter, purify the blood, and carry off the corrupt
humors of the body, in a maimer eo simple as to give every
day ease and pleasnre.
The Hygeian medicines, first introduced into tills coun
try by H. S. Moat, in 1830, have for the last four years
been prepared by him; and tile increasing sale attests their
intrinsic merit; they comprise two sorts of Pills. No. 1 and
2. in single boxes of*each nt 25 or 50 ceots; and Packets enn-
tainine both sorts, nt Si. $2. or S3. The Vegetable Clean
sing Powders, in large boxes, at 37 I-2 cents. with printed
directions. Each packet has a fac-simile of the signature
of H. Shephenrd Moat.

VEGETABLE UNIVERSAL PILLS.
millS medicine is acknowledged to be one of the most

properties are alone of incalculable value, for these pills
may be ta ken daily for any period, nnd, instead of weaken

BITTERS.
f Z 3IIE value and efficacy of Spencer's Vegetable Pill,
Jl have long been known and appreciated in a grest „.
riety of diseases, and as the best and most important of
Family Medicires. Dr. Spencer having been actuated by
a desire to benefit his fellow-beings, has also prepared hi.
Vegetable Tonic and Restorative’ Bitters, which he , 0w
offer* to the Public, at the result of an extonsive praciite
and a thorough investigation of the laws which govern the
human system.
In proof of their extraordinary curative properties, a
large number of certificates from the most respectable citi.
zen* in different sections of the Union, might be appendrd-
but the high reputation which Spencer’s Vegetable Pill,
have acquired, is all sufficient to recommend these Bean
to the special notice of the afflicted. They are purely Vet-
stable,’ and may be taken with perfect safety by all»,«
and sezes, in youthful, adult and declining life. 8
It is well known, that for the promotion of sound health
a well regulated aDd projwmionate quantity of bile upon
tbe stomach is always requisite—it stimulatesdigestioD.acd
keeps the intestinal canal free from all obstructions. On
the interior surface of the liver is a peculiar bladder in
which the bile is first preserved, being forn ed by the liver
from the blood; thence it passes into the stm*«ch and in.
testines, and regulates the digestion. Thus v,e see whea
there is a deficiency of bile, the body i, constantly cosite.
Oh the other hand, an overabundance of bile rouses fre^oen-
nausea in the stomach and often promotes very severe a;,
tacks of disease.
The design of Spencer’s Vegetable Pills, and -Vegetable
Tonic and Restorative Bitters, i* to create a flow of pare
healthy bile, instead of tlie stale and acrid kind. This is
effected by their ealutary action upon the various organ, by
which the bile is formed—and it will be seen at once that
the hile must be healthy or unhealthy, according to the for
mation of the blood; and that the purity or impurity of the
blood, is owing to tbe formation of the Chyle, which pure*
into and forms the blood. These Pill* ana Bitters, by ifcrir
beneficial action upon the stomnrh, causes that
organ to produce a proper quantity of rhyle, and heore
their extraordinary powers in purifyine the blood, regula
ting the various secretions, forming pi-re healthy bile.erd
so astoniahingly assisting digestion, that nearly nine-tenths
of nil diseases are relieved or entirely cured by their n,e.
The object of tbe Pills is to stimulate all the vital orgsns
of the system into notion 8nd thereby cleanse the sOiarrh
and bowels of nil the morbific and offensive matter with
which the system is clogged, and which promotes disease.
The Bitters are to strengthen and restore the stomach snd
vital organs, to their proper tore and vigor. "When this it
accomplished, good health must, of course, be the remit.
Extraordinary Proof* of Ihe. efficacy tf Spencer's Mil
and Restorative Bitters.
Letter from Dr. Ward ling, of South Carolina, dated
Charleston, S. C.. May 3,1845.
Dr. Srzxcx.R—Dear Sir: Having rime to this p’.ice
from the interior of the State to obtain supply of Mtdiciiei
to use in my practice, nnd not finding your Tonic snd Kes-
torative Bitters here, I have thrught best to write you for
a supply. I am now in want of 206 boxes of your Pill,
nnd 300 bottles of the bitiern, and wish you to nerd thna
immediately tn the rare of the Rail Rnnrt Agent at Colum
bia, and I can get them from him. J shall he out of niyprt-

about 40 or 50 boxrs of the Pills per month, and aboatTO
or 90 bottles of the Bitters. It would undoubtedly be u
satisfaction for you to know that with your pills snd bitter,
I have cured seven obstinate casesof PILES which had
resisted every other remedy thnt had been prescribed.—
The first was my own case, of about four years standirj,
which not only baffled my own skill but that of two other
•rhysictans wh5 advised with me. I only took the pills at
. ed time in sufficient quantities to move the bowris, n«
less than once nor more than twice the next day; and oelj
one tattle spoonful of the bitters twice a day. about hall ,a
hour before meals. I continuedthia course lorthree weeks
and found myself cured of a most snpleasant and trouble-
| some disease,
I then ordered my patients to take the medicines' ’* 8 ,
same way. Some of them htwever were cored in one a>»
the time that I was mvself. Since I commenced prescrib
ing the pills and bitters I hare cured four patients of Scro
fula, Sor 9 of Ehcumnti«m.rtope than a dozen essesofchilU
and fever of long stsndirg. nnd some 15 or 20 cases of dys
pepsia, besides a great number of sick headache, weakatM
of 'hest-unseh ami general debility.
I would add that I have always been opposed to Pateet
Medicine; generally, and I should never have counter,r-
ccd yours in my practice had it not been for the remsrkible
cure of my own case first. This con vineed me that thepilli
and bitters must possess very superior virtues; and in jni-
tice to the medicine, I will say, that in a practice of 13
years I have never become acquainted with a medicine ,n
pleasant and mild in its action, that was at the same time
so powerful in curing diseases.
I am yours, respectfully.
