llio present one requires tiino hours at tho least.
In the next place, our twenty-oue bridges—our
tweuly-Gvo pieces of trest’«-work—our Tuunel—
our numberless corves and high embankments, to.
got her with tho general character of the Road and
country, render n day schedule absolutely indis
pensable in the judgment of the best informed En
gineers, most experienced Rail Road raeu, and en
lightened and intelligent travellers.
And lastly, tho present schedulo on tho State
Road, or one, iu substance, like it, will do more
for the prosperity of Central, Southern, and South
western Georgia than anyone which can be adopt
ed, provided tho Mncoii aud Western Bail Road
will run hi connection with the State Rosd, which.
I believe, their interest will, iu the end, induce
them to do. To bo couvinced of this, you hnvo

from Chattanooga to Savannah will only be thirty,
six hours, three hours less time, mid forty miles
greater distance. And now all that is nocossary
to accomplish this very desirable result, is tho co
operation of tho Macon and Western Rail Road.
I would also remark, that under this arrangement,
travellers will have eight hours at the least to
spend iu Macon, a lime sufficient fur reasonable
refreshment. Yours, respectfully,
