Foles^and flags and liberty caps, to cheer them on
in their contest against Nicholas; we raised the

shaken d. wn ibe ihruji. „t Louis Phillippe, and
ttampled it beneath Ibeir feet; we have opened
o-n arms. <»ir purses, and our heart* to the exiles
of Hungary—wand d»» we now torn rouud aud
a*nd our squadrons against a gallant people atrug-
gl ng for their liberties, against the most mferual
nepotism that now enraes the earth!
We tell the men in power at Wasliineton that
they are lighliug a match which will fire a maga
zine that will blow them to atoms. Gen. Tavlor,
as strong as he conceives himself to be. will go
down before the storm ol indignation which will
come of this intervention in behalf of Spain againtt
thepeopleof Cuba! Why it ia even mors shame
ful than that French intervention which crushed
a Republic which was proclaimed at the base of
Pompey’s Pillar.
The United States of America actiug in the ca
pacity of policemen for Spain! A great republic
sending jt* ships to maintain the cause of despo
tism against a people straggling to be free! Tbo
descendants ol the men who were glad to receive
Lafayette and his associates, now eudeavoring to
t lrnttle a glorious effort for emancipation on tha
part of th* Cubans! Worse than this: a republic
lighting against its own interests! There ia au is

on the map; see bow Cuba looks up. and is the
barrier,of a long line ol our coast, and tnensay
whether it is onr interest to have it under tha con
trol of Spain, or any other power! And then read
the acconnta from Washington—that a “ British
fleet from Jamaica may be expected to co-operate
with the Home Squadron!" This is something
new in our history.
We tell General Taylor and hi* Cabinet that tho
peopla of the United States will consign them to
political obliviuu if they meddle furthur iu this
business. Tha people of the United Slates wish
to tee Cuba Tree, and free abe will bo. Set that

Our friends who oppose tho Nashville CnttVen
vention, and who ero iu favor of the compromise
admit that the compromise docs notdo ns justice,
This is nothing more cor less than telling us, and
tho world that they havo mads up their minds to
attbmil to Injustice. Now, it aeetns to me that it
must be bad policy to mBke such declarations as
this, and ir men have deliberately made up their
minds to submit to injustice, it seems tp me, that
they ought to say w hat omonut of iiquslice they
inteud to submit to. But'we are told that the
compromise is the best that we can get. And;
why ? Because we have told the North, and the
world, that wo are prepared to be trampled on and
to submit to iujuiticv aud fried.
If the compromise does us justice, we aught to
notoil as the harbinger of good; bot if it doc a
not. wa ought not to submit to it. because every
being in the whole world, good and bad, ia entitled
to it and for this ell individuals, and all communi
ties ought to contend, aud foruotbing more or lets.

with Asthmatic breathing. Betidescoringtbe cases

Tbe Rev. Mr. Turner, states as follow*, to say no
thing of the many cases that might be referred to,
where the medicine ha* been used:
“Having labored under a violent cough and pain in
tile chest for several months, 1 called on Dr. Little for
a prescription, wbo gave me Ida Anodyne Coogb

take them, and by continuing a few day*, mv couch

Dr Little—Dearair: I feel it a duty to inf irm you
of a case in which yoar Anodyne Cough Drops, was
used with sn much success. For the last twenty
years a negro man of mine has had a severe cough and
Asthma, coming on by spells every three or lour
weeks, and sometime* with so much violence as near
ly to prove fatal. He hoa taken much medicine be-
sides being attended by physicians, with but little
benefit. During an attack. Dr. tjunead prescribed,
your Cough drops, which loon relieved tbe cough and
difficult breathing, lie continued the medicine for a
few days, when be bad no mnro of tbe symptoms of
the disease left. Several months have rlapsrd since,
and there has been no return whatever, besides lie is
enjoying good health. I have known this medicine
to be ased frequently fur congh*. colds. Ac. with ex

Dr. Little—Dear sir: Your Anodyne Cough Drops
has been used in several cases in my family with
most excellent effect, in fact we found it much supe
rior to tlie Balsam of Wild Cherry nr any thing else
we gave for coughs or colds. In Whooping Cough it
