conclusively the genius of the party which a-
dopted the maxims of Alex. Hamilton in the
early days of the republic, and which wc have
the authority of Mr. Jefferson for saying, were
founded on the belief that our people were
ignorant ami could not be governed by any
other than a strong consolidated government.
There is to be no inquiry into the past history
of President Fillmore; liis pledge to the abo-
litionists of the North to abolish slavery in
in the Territories of the United States—his
support of the corruption* of the bank—liis
identity with all the extravagant pretensions
of the federalists on the subject of taxes aud

“ It accords with tlie waning extravagance
of unscrupulous politicians, whose unmasked
designs have beon rejected by 'the people, to
bury the past, to discard old issues, and to
create a new standard of political faith which
may cover the follies and weaken the odium of
former defeat.”

• A man known as Billy Barlow, died at the
honso 91 Lenord street, yesterday, after an
illness of but fifteen minutes. He turned
black immediately after his death, .and itinust
be that cholera was the cause. There were
several other deaths of the same, kind yester
day. A gentleman came to tlie Chief's office
late last night, and stated that a servant girl,
living with hioi U Nassau street, had died in
the house after a few minute's illness, and
turned black soon after. It may have been
the extreme heat, but it looks like some viru
lent disease.
This certifies that 1 havo used Perry Davis’ Veg

Dailey’s Magical Paiit Extractor.
There never has been a discovery made in Mate
ria Medics, whereby pain can be so quickly allayed,
and where parts in a high state of inflammation can
be so rapidly reduced to their natural state, nor
where wounds and sores can be so thoroughly and
rapidly healed, and decayed parts restored without
either scar or defect, thnn with Dallsy's Magical

In Cuts, Wounds, Sprains and Brnises—casualities
to which children are constantly subject—the action
of the genuino Dallet’s Pain Extractor, is ever
tlie same! Hoiv much Pain and Suffering may not
thus be prevented! Moreover, Life itself is often de
