If auti-slavcry politics in this country have
any sure end, they tend towards the accom
plishment of the abolition of African slavery
throughout the land. Yet not one man in :
hundred who advocates them has even an in
distinct comprehension of the effects which
would surely follow their triumph here. These
effects are so appositely stated in the following
brief extract from a late editorial in the New
York Herald, that we republish it-in the hope
that we may thus be the means of bringing its
common sense statements to the notice of some
who will be benefited by reflecting soberlv up
