FOR PRESIDENT GROVER CLEVELAND OF NEW YORK. FOR Vice PRKSIDENT ALLEN G. THURMAN, OF OHIO. EDITORIAL NOTES. Judge Dorsey scored another victory in his large and lucrative practice by clearing Eddleman for the murder of Tom Gresham. We were at home sick last week and are in nowise to be held re sponsible f r the garbled sheet that made its appearance under two names. Politics in Indiana and New York are very close and the race centers in these states. Cleveland Ipairthought to have the advantage * which makes us smile; Old Hutch says the papers tells lies on him. The Atlanta Con*, stitution says if they do, that all of them are not as much of a liar as Hutch. Come again Hutch. Editor Grady, of the Atlanta Constitution gave the pecplo of Dallas Texas a sample of Georgia eloquence that is seldon produced except by Grady himself. Hon. J. S. James has with draw from the race for /udge of the Stone Mountain circuit. Judge Richard H. Clark will be elected, no doubt, and he deserves it. The repeated calls for money, to be used in behalf of the Presiden tial candidates is evidence suiTics ient to convict of purchasing vo ters. While wc are opposed to any such methods of carrying elec tions we presume it proper to de feat the thieving republicans by using their own methods. ►: We feel nearer to Atlanta now than heretofore. It used to take about six hours to make the trip. The Atlanta & Florida R. R. shortened the time to one hour, _ and since ike tower of the Court House has been completed we K stay at home and see the Capitol. Thus it is seen that Fayetteville HHkeep, pace with the times. The 1«th of Jprt Mav. George Eddlemai^t^*^»taie' agent, of AtbedalT shot and killed Thomas Gresham of the W. & A. R. R. The first of last week Eddleman was arraigned for trial. After a call of about three hundred Jutors twelve men were chosen into whose hands was placed the life of the defendant. The law says that a man shall be tried by a jury of his peers. We think that this wa9 followed to the letter and do not believe that there was a gentleman of honor upon the en tire jury. They are the equals of Eddleman in every respect and * we would sooner risk our life ^ with the blcod stained criminal ^ than with the jury who tried him. Men without conscie tee, void of reason and having no sense of sh?me is the verdict of the people against these jurors. NTERESTING ITEMS BOIL ED DOWN IN READ ABLE STYLE. The grip cars of Chicago, Ill,, are to be hereafter run by "new men, nearly all the new hands be ing supplied from Kansas city Mo. The police have their hands full guarding the new men.
