EDITORIAL NOTES,
Here They Are.
Last Monday morning the vehi
cles began rolling in until it lo >ked
as if the streets would be blocks
aded. There was a large number
Of delegates and nearly as many
candidates. It was announced
that the convention would meet at
ten o,c ock. Before that hour ar-
aived the candidates bi stirred
themselves and could be seen
shakiug hands with the delegates
and asking them to give them
What support they could. Every
delegation came solid for some one
of the various candidates. Those
that had no candidate lor Sheriff
■were striving for some of the other
officers. The convention met at
balf past ten with Mr. J. M. Ars
nold, of the sixth district, in the
chair as temporary Carirman. On
motion of L. F. Blalock he was
permanent Chairman of the con
vention. The convention then
being ready for bnsiness J. vV.
Kitchens, J. B. Carson and C. H.
Eistin were appointed a committee
to draft suitable rules to govern
the convention. After the com-
i mittee made their report, nomina
tions for Ordinary were in order
• and Hon. E^. M. Franklin the
present encumbent, and J;dge L
> B. Griggs were announced. The
balloting com.neneed|bs each del
egate voting his owra ticket and
jnstas the bent of his inclination
decided; The result was annoum
ced-^nd Judge Franklin was norr-
4nated to succeed himself. < lerk
of Superior Court was next in or
der and Judge A. E. Stokes. Em
mett Mathews and VV. H. Red wine
were announced by enthusiac k
friends ane A. E. Stokes was nom
inated The next in order wa 1 -
the office of Sheriff. This prove i
to be the battle ground of the del
egates. Ballot after ballot was
taken and “no nominatio»” was
announced by the Chairman with
a regularity that finally tir d the
convention. The diff rent nam?s
were withdrawn one by cne until
Mr. Sam Martin of the 4 th district
was nominated by acclimation.
After a number of ballots for Tax
Collector Mr Frank Davi- was
nominated to succeed /. H. W 1 i-
ford. T. M. Farr was nominated
for Tax Receiver. T. M. Murpi y
vms nominated for Treasurer am.,
whil ■ perhaps he was ag.erablv
disappointed we know that he will
make a roewrt^ks TifiRsurer that
his riends can point to with pride
and that should secure his nomi-
uation two years hence. Rev. J.
G Speight was nominated for Cor
oner and W. H. Pritchard county
Surveyor. In refference to the
nominations above mentioned we
think the convention has acted
wisely and nominated men that
will fill the various offices of trust
creditable. Mr. Martin, the nom
inee for Sheriff, was the only
d ark horse that ran a winning
heat. We do not know him but
as bis friends are willing to accept
him, so will upon their recom-
mendation, We congratulate all
the successful candidates, for
theirs is a great victory, the battle
being hard fought.

Slow acticu and uncertain effect have always

U30 of B. 11. B., which I have used with plgnal
success for the cure of Scrofula, Kidney Affec

Catarrh, etc.
Its action has been bo direct and powerful
that one single bottle has often effected au
entire cure. As an appetizer aud penernl tonic
I have never known its equal. It Is well adapted
to the Hcrofulong DlatheBls of Infants, und doee
not contain vegetable or mineral poison.
During a practice of 115 years I have never
nred a blood remedy so speedy In action: as it
has proven to be a giant remedy of absolute
certainty, and I cheerfully recommend it aa
worthy of public confidence. Its wonderful
eures are too numerous and too gln-lngto ad
