Hon. Win. Windom, Secretary of

cause of his death.
An exchange says that it is just
as wicked to indulge in mental
profanity as to swear right out
loud. But it failed to add that it
does not give near the satisfaction.

There is one feature of the grip
in Georgia which is peculiar. In
some portions of the state, persons
who have been troubled with the
malady have become insane and at
tempted suicide.
The Young Men’s Christian As
sociation convention, which meets
in Brunswick in February, will be
very largely attended. Great en
thusiasm is expressed for it and
the whole state will be represent
ed.
There are two counties of Geor
gia that haven’t a single lawyer.
That’s a remarkable fact, says the
Thomosville Times, but it is a fact.
The two counties are Echols and
Charlton. The returns for 185)0
show further that Charlton has
neither a doctor nor a dentist,—

The recent bad weather has de
layed the farmers, to some extent,
in preparing their lands for plant-
ing.
The largest, cheapest, and best

and wagon harness in the market
at Blalock’s.
On account of the accident to
the passenger train last Sunday
evening we did not have any mail
for two or three days this week.
On account of the inclement
weather last Friday night, the
spelling bee at The High School
building was postponed.
Miss Perry Henderson, of Atlan
ta, spent a few days in Fayetteville
this week visiting her grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. U. M. Henderson.
Rev. Mr. Pierce, P. E. preached
at the Methodist church last Sun-
daj* * night. He was to preach again
on Monday night but on account
of the rainy weather he failed.

A party of the officials of the A.
& F. passed down the road last
Sunday on a special train, and re
turned the same day. Mr. L. F.
Blalock and road master, Lights,
of this place, accompanied the
Party.

Friend C’has. Russell, formerly
of town but now of the country
(on his farm) was in town Mon
day. Charles says he never saw
briers, in the fence corners, as
large before since lie has been
farming. “Freeze to ’em old boy."
The south-bound passenger train
happened to an accident about
two miles south of Woolsey last
Sunday evening. Two ears quit
the track and turned completely
over, setting fire to the mnil coach
which vu partly burned. Fortu
nately no one was seriously hurt.
The train was carrying 12 or 13
loaded freight ears.

Miss Lola Lewis, a lovely young
lady of Woolsey, spent Sunday In
Fayetteville visiting the family of

for sale Sunday afternoon.
The A. <fc F. is in hard luck this
week. Passenger train wrecked
Sunday and freight on Monday.
Everything is serene though, now,
and all trains are running on regu
lar schedule.
Mr. PL W. Leach a former citizen
of this county, died at his home in
Senoia last Saturday night, Few
men were better known in this
county than “Bud” Leach and all
who knew him loved and admired
him.
A Well known Ciizon Dead.
Mr. James Speer died at his
home in tho lower 7th. district of
this county last Monday night and
was buried at Ebeneezer church
Wednesday. Mr. Speer was an old
and respected citizen of this coun
ty, well known and popular, and
his death will carry sadness to
many hearts.

a sling shot, commonly called a “flip”
in tile corporate limits of the town of
Fayetteville and on conviction shall be
punished as prescribed in section sixty

Last Sunday evening at the res
idence of the bride’s parents, Mr.
and Mrs. B. L. McGough, in this
place, Mr. J. W. Kirkland and
Miss Euzebce McGough were unit
ed in marriage. Rev. A. H. Hill
ier officiating.
Tho groom is one of Jonesboro’s
most worthy and highly hon
ored young men, ami the bride is
one of Fayetteville’s accomplished
and most winsome young ladies.
The happy pair remained in our
town until Monday morning when
they left for Jonesboro, their fu
ture home.
Quite a number of friends, of
both the bride and groom, were
present to witness the happy mar
riage.
