in Atlanta this week.
Miss Carol Arnold, returning home
for the holidays from Wesleyan College,
was joined in Atlanta by her mother,
Mrs. J. J. Arnold, Wednesday.
Every one who can is urged to take
part in the singing of the Christmas
carolers on the night of December 23.
The carolers will meet at the court
house at 4:45 p. m., and from there will
visit the homes, taking small donations
for our empty stocking fund. You are
asked to help.

Miss Elizabeth, Benton, former teach
er in the Fayetteville fhigh schocfy
now of Macon, was badly injured when
an automobile in which she was riding
plunged through a bridge onto the
tracks of the Central railroad, near
Marshallville, Ga. Other occupants of
the car were Troy Davis, a lawyer, and
Miss Miriam Sams, who is teaching
in Macon. The party were returning
from Fort Valley to Macon when the
accident happened. The Central rail
road furnished a special, train to bring
the party to Macon, whei’e they are
now confined in a hospital.
Dr. Y. R. Coleman from Macon spent
last week-end with Mr. and Mrs. J.
S. 'Thornton.
Miss Effie Kate Gary will return on
Saturday from Soperton, Ga., where she
is teaching, to spend the Christmas
holidays with her parents, Rev. and
Mrs. George P. Gary.
Miss Sarah Burks will return Thurs
day from G. N. I. College at Milledge-
ville, to be with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. S. A. Burks.
Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Goodjoin have
gone to Miami, Fla., where they ex
pect to make their home, and are now
en route to that city by automobile.
In 1921 Jefferson county ginned 6,848
bales and in 1922, .7,840 hales, under
boll weevil conditions. Fayette county
in 1921 ginned 3,157 hales and in 1922
1,260 bales under the same conditions.
,C. V. Shirley, new county agent in
Fayette, came from Jefferson county,
where he had been agent for five years.
These results speak plainly of Shir
ley’s ability. Folow the agent and
put Fayette county on the map.

Rev. Joseph H. Farr, a former mem
ber of Ebenezer church, and now pas
tor of the Griffin circuit, will preach
at Ebenezer on the fifth Sunday in
December.
Rev. Mr. Farr is a former Fayette
leounty man and was reared in the Eb-
enezer community. It is expected that
many of his former friends will hear
him on this occasion.
Judge John Davis has promised to
be on hand and conduct the song ser
vice for his old friend, Brother Farr.

Dr. Charles O, Jones, secretary of
the Georgia division of the Anti-Saloon
League, will he at Fayetteville the fifth
Sunday in December. He will, preach
at the Methodist church at 11 a. m.
and at the Baptist church at 7 p. m.

Griffin Women Plan Club Building
Griffin.—At a meeting of the Wom
an’s club Mrs. R. P. Shapard resigned
as president of that organization. Mrs.
Shapard was vice president at the time
of the death of Mrs. R. H. Drake and
has acted as president since that time.
Business was suspended until after the
holidays, when a new president will
bo elected and the many duties of the
organization will be carried on.

Traffic Paralyzed By Railroad Wreck
Senoia.—A freight train wreck six
miles south of Senoia on the Atlanta,
Birmingham and Atlantic railroad com
pletely paralyzed mail pnd passenger
service on this line between Atlanta
and Manchester, not a passenger train
having been run since. Consequently
the Senoia patrons have failed to re
ceive their daily mail. There were ten
cars in the wreck, one a car of mules,
and although the car was tom almost
to splinters the mules escaped almost
without injury. An investigation is
being made to determine the cause of
the wreck.

Power Co. Plans Extension
Americus.—Representatives of the
Georgia-Alabama Power company are
seeking new options on a power line
right-of-way out of Americus in, the
direction of Cordele, where the lines
are to be extended immediately. The
lines will' probably be extended along
the right-of-way of the Dixie highway
for a distance out of Americus, cutting
across the country after leaving the
highway and going direct to Cordele.
No announcement has been made as to
where the lines will cross the river,
nor have the company representatives
stated directly the route to be taken
out of Americus.
