Saturday, the 18th inst. To say
that tho occasion 'was a most en
joyable one would be putting it
very tamely. The dinner was com

and was prepared with uneermg
skill. Guess it will be only a year
until Bro. Ross will roll around to

a long time to wait for another

Speaking of birthdays, we are
reminded that time flies rapidly.
Ere I realize it, I will be looking

We did thintt all the foolishness
had gotten out of the heads of the
people about the Populist party
and the purport of its founders,
but occasionally we find a man
who has some of the most ridicu
lous notions ever conceived by
man. N t long since, we herrdof
a man talking about the enormous
amount of money Tom Watson
made out of politics, money which
people had given him. The fol
low who talked such rot was, in
all probability honest in thinking
so, because ho had heard someone
else say it. The truth of the mat
ter is, no man ever gave Mr. Wat
son a dollar only tor subscriptions
to papers, and to aid him in his
contest for a scat in congress which
had been stolen from him. Not a
single dollar of this money did
Tom Watson ever put in his own
pocket, but on the other hand he
spent thousands for which he nev
er got a dollar in return. We can
produce testimony over Mr. Wat
son’s own signature that he lost
several thousand dollars on one
institution. It does seem that all
inteligeut people ought to know
better than to be having such un
called for chat.

DANGERS OF THE GRIP
The greatest danger from La Grippe
is of its resulting in pneumonia. If
reasonable care is used, however, and
Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy taken, all
danger will be avoided. Among the
tens of thousands who have used this
remedy for la grippe we have yet to
learn of a single case having resulted
in pneumonia which shows conclusively
that this remedy is a certain preventive
of that dangerous disease. It cure la
grippe in less time than any other treat
ment. It is pleasant and safe to take.
