Dry Weather. In a private letter from Mr. Jno. E. Lamar, of Austin Texas, we quote the following: “One thing that is peculiarly striking, is the contrast of rain fall in your state and ours. Here we have had no raiu this year and but little all through win ter and fall. Our river is lower than it has been in twenty years. All street cars are run by pjwer generated by the river. These are all stopped and have to be superceded with mule cars, and our city and dwellings lighted by elec tricity are all iu darkness, only lighted by hcuse lamps. All manufacturing enterprises run by electrical power have been forced to shut down until it rains.” Georgia would like to swap some of its wet for Texas dry weather for a few weeks and pay the difference.
