Mr. H. C. Horton informs us that he
threshed out TO2 bushels of wheat for
Mr. Jndson Jackson this week. This is
a pretty good crop for this year.

Our Other Teacher.
Miss Annie McDonald, the other
teacher elected by the Boaed of Educa
tion for the Winder Public School,
comes as highly endorsed and recom
mended as could be desired by any one.
She is a yonng lady of splendid moral
character, a teacher of several years ex
perience, and among her endorsements
are some froiq the leading educators of
the state. Several ladies and gentlemen
of our city who know her personally
are delighted at her election and feel
that she will be a valuable acquisition
to our city and school.
For several years she Ins been at
Gainesville connected with the Georgia
Female Seminary. She has accepted
the position here to which she was
unanimously elected and this completes
the list of teachers for the next year.

man of Harmony Grove, spent a few
days in Winder this week Mr. Benton

Winder had quite a delegation of
lawyers Monday from Gainesville and
other towns to argue some points of law
before Judge Russell. Among those
here were Judge Estes of Gainesville
and Col. Claude Estes of Macon.
No Danger.
It has been over forty days since Mr.
Gunnin was exposed to small pox and
there is no danger of him havng it.
You can hear all kind of reports but
there is no small pox in the county ex
cept the few cases up at Mr. Sikes’ be
tween Hoschton and Pendergrass, and
the case of Dr. Farr of Hoschton. There
is no need of any excitement over it
now as it is under good control and
with proper precaution time will be no
new cases.
Mrs. S. W. Arnold, daughter and son,
left for Loganville last week to spend a
few weeks with her mother and sisters.
Mr. Arnold says he will have to remain
here to keep house while Mrs. Arnold
is away but we rather suspect he will
have some business at Loganville before
the close of this week.

Master Earl Kimbell, one of the nice
and bright boys of Winder, stopped us
Tuesday as we wore passing his home
and with that cordiality that makes
one feel you are really wanted invited
us to come iu aud have ice cream with
him. Of course an editor was never
known to refuse any thing good so we
went in and enjoyed a few plates of
cream and thought it the best we had
ever eaten and that Earl was the clev
erst boy we had met this year.

Barn and Mules Burned.
Ran Hunter, colored, of Sauta Fe
district, this county, had his barn, three
mules, two wagons, buggy, mower,
corn and syrup burned last Friday
night. It is thought to have been the
work of an incendiary. Ran is a hard
working man and has the confidence
of his neighbors. This is a great loss
to him which it will be hard to over
come unless the people help him by
donations.

iu Winder down between the two rail
roads one day this week and threshed
47 and one half bushels of wheat and
get back to the well with separator and
engine in just 82 minutes from the time
