Miss Evle Trout and Miss Brooks, of Pendergrass, were the charming guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arther Brooks a few days this week. Miss Bert* McGarrity, who has been teaching music at Homer, is visiting the homefolks. Miss Alice Bradbury has returned home after an extended visit to rela tives in Athens. Messrs. R. A. Black and Oscar Pirkle, of Hoschton, are spending a few days in town. Mr. snd Mrs. J. B. Wier, of Athens, visited Rev. R. 8. McGarrity’s family this week, they were accompanied by Miss Chappell. There will be no preaching on Saturday. This section was well represented at Elder’s Academy last Sunday afternoon to hear the able sermon of Rev. R N. Abraham. Miss Florence wills, the beautiful and accomplished daughter of Mr. W. C. Wills of Jefferson, is visiting Miss Belle Hunter. We are always glad to have s 10 h an amiable Christian young lady i l our community. Mrs. Anna Hawes, of the Central City, who has been on an extended vis it to her neice, Mrs. Mary Fulcher, has returned homo to the regret of her many friends. Mrs. A. C. Holliday and children, of the Classic City, are the guests of rela tives and friends here this week. Miss Fannie Hunter is spending this week in Jefferson, the guest of Mr. W C. Wills and family. Clarksboro and Galilee crossed bats here last Saturday afternoon, the score stood 8 to 16 iu favor of Clarksboro. Miss Sallie Ware, the beautiful aud intelligent daughter of Mrs. W. H. Ware, of Wiuder, has returned home after spending two weeks iu our midst, aid there is a sad heart at Blackjack crook that will not cease repining. Cotton is beginning to open iu this community. Hon. G. J. N. Wilson, C. S. C. drop ped iu upon Lebanon literary school last Fridayi'and of course was heartily welcomed, for who of us would not list eti spelled bound to his instructive lectures, always full of laughter aud good advice. A number of onr citizens are at Jefferson this week attending court. The condition of the crops in this sec tion are much improved since the fall ing of the recent rains. Mr. Henry Braslton made a business trip to Bocial Circle Monday. Dr. L. J. Parr went to Dacnla Sunday to spend the day with home folks in that city. News has reached onr town of the serious illness of Mr. D. B. Oliver of near Lawrenceville. He is well known here and jnstly enjoys the esteme and confidence of anr people. Mr. R. W. Dodgen of Gainesville was in towu Monday. Mr. Wilson Titshaw raised the finest radish we have seen this year. It will measure nearly a foot and a half iu length. Mr. E. D. Wiley left Sunday for Atlan ta, where be will spend a few days, the irnest of Rev. D. Evans. Misses Leila Lott and Eula Sell were visiting iu Algernon Sunday, the guests ot Miss Annie Williams. Mr. Allen Anderson, in company with his daughters. Misses Della and Woodie, left Friday for Dahlonega to spend sev eral days in visiting relatives iu that city. Miss Camma Hill, of Bethlehem, was the gnest of her sister, Mrs. R. A. Hosch Sunday. Miss Nora Hamby, of Social Circle, will spend several days with Mrs. M. B. Arnold. The camp-meetiag at Lawreuoeville promises to be attended by a large num ber of boys and girls from our town. Mr. Herschel DeLaPerriere is again confined to his room by a case or fever. His friends wish for him a speedy recovery. Miss Lillie May Davis, of Augusta, is here for a week’s visit at the home of Mr. aud Mrs. F. M Hayes. HIS LIFE WAS SAVED. Mr. J. E.
