Did Not Elect.
The Board of Education met at Jef
ferson Tuesday to elect a County School
Commissioner for the next four years,
but failed to do so. The board put it
off again until uc xt week. The gentle
men composing this body seem to be in
a dilemma as between the present in
cumbent and Prof. R. D. Moore.

Honey Stolen.
Mr. Marion Perkins, who lives six
miles below Winder on the Hog Moun
tain road, had $115.00 stolen from him
last Monday night. The thief entered
his room some time during the night
and took it from his pants pocket. A
negro by the name of Jes Pinkney, who
was working for him, is thought to be
the guilty party and has not since been
seen.

is up for a few days visiting relatives

gave us a short call this morning in
passing through. He informed ns that
he sold his crop of cotton last week,
made with one mule, for S7OO. Mr.
Burnett thinks there is no country that
will equal South Georgia and from his
cotton yield last year it certainly is a
better farming country than this.

Shot at Three Times.
Mr. W. H. Bursou, of Parudise, car
ried cotton to Athens last Friday. He
started b”*ck home late that afternoon
and just this side of Mitchell’s bridge
between sundown and dark two men
halted him ana ordered him to hold up
his hands. Instead of doing this he
fired his pistol twice at them and the
robbers fired at him three times. They
saw things were getting too wrm for
them and they ran off after the third
shot. If Mr. Burson had not had bis
pistol they would have gotten all of his
cotton money and perhaps killed him.
