Moor' 1 , a highly respected citizen who lived one mile below town, died last Saturday night at eleven o’clock, after an illness of 12 days with la grippe, it so affecting his brain and nervous svstem that all the available medical skill failed to give relief. His remains were laid to rest in the Thomp son burying ground Monday evening with Masonic honors. Mr. Moore was in affectionate father and husband; he leaves a large circle of relatives and friends who mourn h>s death. Messrs J. W. Bell and L. F. Harris ire confined to their rooms with la grippe. Mr. Albert Jones visited Monroe Sat urday and Sunday. Clever Bob Moore was down from Winder last week at the bedside of his lick brother. Mr. L F. Harris visited friends in W'nder last week. Glad to note very little guano hauled outfroin this place yet. The many friends of Mr. J. H. Bed ingfield are glad to know he is conva lescing. Messrs M. V. Treadwell, Jack Tucker, W.H. Ceding field, A. A. Perry and R. S. Harris, from this place are serv es as as jurors in Monroe this weok. Rev Thos. Chapman, of Winder, was visiting the family of Rev. R. W. Hay nie Sunday. Mr. Lum Edgar is very sick with rheumatism. The m my friends of cur good citizen, C. T.Matnews, regret to know he is no better. ihe killing of Charlie Austin near Monroe last Sunday adds one more to ke list of murderers of Walton county. Why will men be so cruel? WINDER, JACKSON COUNTY, GEORGIA, THURSDAY, MARCH i, 1900. In Memory of Mr. D. W. Sheridon, who died at his home in Gillsville, Ga., February 24th. At the time of his death he was about 48 years old and was a strict and consis tent member of the Baptist church. Mr. Sheridon lived and died near where he was born and few men had more friends in his community. He left a wife and seven children aud many relatives and friends to mourn his loss. Mr. Sheri don was an affectionate and loving hus band and father and was al3o devoted to his mother and sisters. The writer had been|intimately acquainted with him for 88 yeara and the friendship grew stronger and stronger as the years pass ed by. He was a true and sincere friend a kind and obliging neighbor and hon orable and npright in all his dealings with his fellowman. He was buried at Gillsville, Hall county on February 25th, a large con course of people, who were his friends aud neighbors, being present to pay a last tribute of respect to a good and worthy man. He died happy in tha faith, feeling that assurance that was well with him. His memory will ever be cherished by the writer for he was truly our frieud aud brother T. L. Estes. Effective this date the Gainesville Jefferson & Southern Railroad will put on sale a week end and a Sunday ticket for the benefit of its patrons who may desire spend Saturday night or Sun day at some of our local stations. The week 9nd ticket will be sold at a rate of four cents per mile, one war for the round trip and will be good on all trains passing station after 12 o clock noon on Saturday. Returning they will be good on all trai s scheduled to arrive at destination tefore 12 o’clock, noon, Monday after date of sale. She was forty-four years old and was an obedient and loving wife, a gentle aud kind daughter aud affectionate sister. She was a member of the Methodist church for a good maoy years, being converted in her girlhood. Her sick ness lasted for sometime, which she bore with great fortitude. She often spoke of leaviug-iier little children and the last request was for us all to meet in heaven. She leaves an aged mother, husband, four sons and daughters a brother and sister and many friends to mourn her loss, but we.cau say our loss is her eternal gain.
