It may be the failure lies in the careless at'SHtion giv en to .heir culture. Many think that au _v sort of land and any kind of prep aration is pood enough for oats. To ,ow oats, late in the spring, on poor nnpr pared land, is trouble aud expense without any hope of a reward. Sowing the poorest lan 1 in oats is an old prac tice, and like o f hor habits not easv to ignore. Tradition governs us often, even when our better judgement tells ns it isn't the wisest course. We are great imitators. There is very Hide originality in any one. We start out copying, from the beginning, and this is kept up, with little digress ion through life. Imitation shapes all society and gives form to our habits. People are classed according to their ability to imitate. The world moves on imitating in ail the various spheres of life. There is much speculation concerning what the price of cotton will be next fall. We have been asked many times what ws thought about it. No one can tell or form any certain conclusion ox- cept those who control the groat vol ume of money th it goes into tho cotton crop. Our opinion is, there is no safety in making the coming crop above a five cent basis. 1 all will do this, there is hardly a possibility of a loss and, per haps, much may be gained. There is nothing like being on the safe side. Tho grauci jury ot this county, Wal ton, was au honorable business body, having dispensed their offi-inl duty in seven days. Their recommendations will be read with interest. Their ac tion c mdeming the present road sys tem will be approved by four-fifths of the voters of tin county. Something just had to bo “did” to save the county from complete bankruptcy. The poor old dog was left to howl his own dirge yet another Beason. J. L. M. HIS LIFE WAS SAVED. -h J. Yes, August Flower still has the largest sale ot any medicine in the oiv ilized world, Your mothers’ and grand mothers’ never thougnt of using any thing else for Indigestion or Biliousness. Doctors were scarce, and they seldom heard of Appendicitis, Nervous Prostra tion or Heart failure, etc. They used August Flower to clean out the system and stop fermentation of undigested food, regulate the action of the liver, stimulate the nervous and organic ac tion of the system, and that is all they took when feeling dull and b->4 with headaches and other aches.
