Our Foreman Sick.
Mr. Lord, our foreman, has been
quite sick for five or six days and we
are not able out a paper with the
usual reading matter- this week. Jim
Coker, the best boy printer for his ex
perience in the state, has been our only
help tbis week and still we give in this
issue more general matter than you
commonly see in most weekly papers.
Mrs. E. A. Borders, the mother of
Mrs. G. R- Duke, of our city, died in
Athens last Sunday. Mrs. Borders was
a good woman and had lived to the ripe
old age of 70 odd years. She was well
known to most of the people on the
Eastern side of the county where she
spent most of her life. We had known
her for thirty years and were saddened
at the news of her death.
Tat receiver Moon and Collector
Brock were in Winder Monday, the
forner receiving tax returns and the
latter w.th his registration book. Mr.
Brock will make the rounds with the
reoeiver and every one who has not reg
istered ought to meet him aud attend to
thi* matter.

Prof. Kilgore Leaves Us.
Prof. Kilgore, who hr.s been a citizen
of Winder lor several years, has gone
to Madison, Ga., where he will engage
in the mercantile business. Prof, aud
Mrs. Kilgore will be greatly missed in
our city where they had made may
friends. Mr. J. J. Smith a popular
young business mau of Wiuder has ac
cepted a position with him and he and
Mrs. Smith will make their future home
in Madison. Winder’s loss in these
two families is Madison’s gain.
