A Large Family.
Dr. J. M. Saunders, of our city, comes
from a long lived family. The Dr. is
now 74 years old and is still stoat and
active. He has several brothers living
yet, some of whom are older than he.
The family record is rather remarkable.
There were sixteen children, thirteen
boys and three girls. Of the thirteen
boys, ten of them served in the confed
erate army. They were all born and
raised in Oglethorpe < ounty this state.

Mr. Jno. L. Moore, one of our popular

This community has had an unusua
occurrence. Mr. T. K. Randolph, of
Athens, Ga., was called to the bedside
of his sick mother of near this place.
Not long after he arrived here he tele
graphed for his wife to come to the bed
side of her father and,mother, and just
four days from the time she arrived
here her father and mother, and her
husband’s mother were all dead and
buried, and Mr. and Mrs T. K. Ran
dolph returned to their home in Athens
sad hearted and grieved, fatherless and

Mr. R. L. Jones, the general trsvei

Damon, spent a few days here this
week. This is one of the best fraternal
companies extant, and Mr. Jones is es
tablishing conclaves in all portions of
state. The oooclave he organized here
a short while age is prospering.
Mr, A. E. Knight went out Sunday
and spent the day with Mr. B. H.
Meadow. He says it was the most
pleasant day he has had in a long while
and thinks he has gained abont ten
pounds from the effects of the feast of
good things Mrs. Meadow had for din
ner.

Mr. W. J. Whitehead nf Wilner, was
in the city yesterday. He is one of the
big farmers over on the Mulberry and
Oconee rivers and informed as that his
large wheat crop was fine. He always
sows largely of wheat and oats.

Colored Church Rally.
Rev. D. M. Pinkard, pastor of the A.
M. E. Zion onnrch of this place, had a
rally last Sunday for the benefit of his
church. The excursions from other
places bought in large crowds of colored
people from other points. Parson Pink
ard deserves muoh praise for the success
of his church rally and for the good or
der he had with so many present. He
has done good work here this year for
his people and his church and has the
respect and confidence of the white
people of Winder.
