Johnny Maynard, son of the presi
dent of the Winder Banking Cos., has
recruited a company of boys of our
town and aronnd with hoes they have

are chopping cotton from sunup to sun
down. In every engagement they have
come out victorious and the enemy is
being every day weakened. These boys

many years they wi'l all be promoted
and become colonels and generrls.

Married.
Mr. F. Hofmeister and Miss Stinch

matrimony last Sunday morning. We

First Threshing.
HiR & Braselton opened the thresh
ing season near this place la3t Friday,
threshing eleven acres of wheat for Mr.
T. L. Estes which measured up 101
bushels. This is only a part of Mr.
Estes’ crop as he had not finished
harvesting at that time. Mr. Estes
makes a good farmer as well as section
boss on the railroad.
R ‘ports show that over fifteen hun

Postmaster Smith has received notice
from snperintendant of the railway
mail services that there will be no ex
changes on Sunday with vestibule
trains.
The delivery of mail on Sunday at
this place will now be from 9 to 10 in
the morning and from 6to 7 in the
evening.

Back From Oregon.
Mr. J. T. Lord, who went from this
county to Oregon last December came
back a week ago with his family. He
says it is a fine country, bnt that he
likes Georgia better and is now satisfied
to remain here the balance of his days.

Mr. Lord back and to again rhake his

Building.

at the council chamber Tuesday after

naries. It is expected that the building,
which will be throe stories —first and

The Knights of Winder have the hon
