Mr. J. M. Hayuie, one among the
best farmers of Chandler’s district, was
in Winder Tuesday and brought with
him a faw stalks of ootton that was
very badly damaged by hail on Monday
evening. Mr. Haynie says he has forty
acres of cotton that is a a badly damaged
as the stalks he brought us. The stalk
is almost completely stripped of every
form and leaf.
Cufus Cook and Oscar Dyer, two col
ored youths, had quite a scrap down
near the factory Sunday night, in which
a knife or razor |played an important
part. At the police matinee it develop
ed that Oscar,was an expert at carving,
and that he oame"near "Cook ing the
other fellows goose. ’’ For his display
in "carving the mayor charged him
twenty dollars and Cufus was discharg
ed ou paying three and promising not
to repeat the exhibition in the city.
