The people seem to think an auction

informs us they are mistaken, and that
it is only an every day occurrence with

Mr. F. M. Haynes, one of the old and
respected citizens of this section, is very
low at his home near Mulberry and is
not expected to live. Unless a great
change takes place he cannot last much
longer.

Rev. Frank Jackson, who has been
conducting a meeting at the Central
Baptist church in Atlanta, has been the
cause of some sensational matter being
published by the papers of that city. As
he is a citizen of Winder, in justice to
him, we publish this week an article
from the Atlanta Daily News by Mr. O.
T. Moncrief, one of the members of the
church above mentioned, vindicating

Mrs. J. S. Downing and two little
girls from Springfield, 111., are spending
a few weeks with Mr. and Mrs. A. H.
O’Neal. Their home will be changed
from Springfield, 111 , to Saltlake City
after the present year. Mr. Downing is
a brother of Mrs. O’Neal.
Col. W. L. Peek, of Rockdale county,
spent Sunday with Col. and Mrs. M. D.
Irwin of our city. He left for home
Monday nurning on the G. J. & S.
road. He is looking well and hearty
and reports the farmeis of his county
in a better condition thau for several
years past on account of the higher
price of cotton this season. Col. Peek
is one of the best farmers in his section
of the state, if not in the state, and has
a lovely home on his large plantation
just a few miles out from Conyers.

Mr. J. L. Morris who has been af
flicted for sev ral years, died la3t Fri
day night at his home near MrHnda. He
was buried Sunday at the House ceme
tery near Rockwell church.
