Flanigan. Tuesday, March 15th. Missionary Society of Christian church met with Mrs. W. O. Perry. Mrs. H. A. Carithers entertained Bridge Club Wednesday, March 16th. Mrs. C. O. Niblack entertained her Sewing club. Thursday, March 17th. Mrs. J. F. Broome is entertaining the Junior Priscilla Sewing Club and a few friends at a sewing par ty. Breanau Glee Club will give a program at the Scholl Audi torium. Saturday, March 19th Regular meeting of the Teacher's Sewing Club. Mrs. Thompson Hostess At Lovely Party. One of the prettiest Spring parties was the one given last Thursday after noon by Mrs. D. F. Thompson to the Young Matron's Club and a few friends. The rooms In which the guests were entertained were artistically adorned With baskets and vases which held violets and peach blossoms, other ap pointments conformed to the Spring motif. At the conclusion of several games of bridge, a delicious salad course was served. The guest list was composed of Mesdames Roy Jack sou, George Fortson, E. V. Snipes, J. M. Aiken, L. W. Hodges, H. E. D. McCurry, Henry Pledger, Guy Kilgore, S. H. Ware, and J. F. Broome. Mrs. Paul Roberts Hostess to Sewing Party. Mrs Paul Roberts was hostess at quite an enjoyable sewing party last -Wednesday afternoon, the honor guests of the occasion being Mrs. L. W. Col lins’ guests, Mrs. Wilkie Collins, Sr., and Mrs. J. P. Hurdle of Winston Sa lem, N. C. During the sewing hour the guests also enjoyed delightful music furnish ed by the honor guests and little Miss Pauline Roberts. Sandwiches and tea were served late in the afternoon. Among those enjoying Mrs. Roberts’ cordial hospitality were Mesdames L. Love, It. I). Couch, L. W. Collins, J. P. Parham, R. L. Eavenson, W N. Bailey. Brides Club Entertained By Mrs. T. W. Burson. An event which was much enjoyed by the Bride’s Club and a few others > \vas the sewing party last Saturday afternoon given by Mrs. T. W. Burson, at her apartment on Church street. The decorations were spring flowers and various suggestions, which were appropriate to the approaching Easter tide. A lovely salad course was served. The guests included Mesdalhes Howard Rogers, J. W. Griffeth, Boh Pirkle, Roy Smith, S. F. Mauglion, Paul Autry, Ed Beddingfield, Guy Jackson, Joe Estes, Z. F. Jackson, and W. 11. Faust, Miss Annette Quillian and little Miss Gwendolyn Autry. Mrs. Niblaek Entertains At Sewing Party. Quite a delightful event of this week was the sewing party Wednesday af ternoon with Mrs. C. O. Niblaek as the charming hostess. After a jolly time spent in sewing a delicious salad course was served. Those enjoying Mrs. Niblack’s hospitality were Mes yjames Iteha Vonderleith, J. S. Hargorve, T. A. Maynard, W, L. Mr. Francis Hofmeister, of this city, and Miss Amanda Chesser, of Eaton ton, were married at the Madison Ho tel in Madison, last Sunday. Mrs. Ilof meister, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. ►r. p. Chesser and they formerly lived in Auburn, this county, moving to Eatonton about a year ago. Mr. Hof meister is a well known citizen of Winder and the many friends of both in this city and county extend best wishes for future happiness and pros perity. Kirk-Hill. \ Mr. James M. Hill, employee of the city of Winder as assistant electrician, and Miss Sarah Kirk, of Rockmart were married Sunday of last week, Rev. 11. C. Palmer opciating. Mrs. Hill is a sister of Mrs. J. B. Cooper, of this city, and the best wishes of their many friends are extended to Lovely Party. One of the largest affairs of the season was the beautiful reception given by Mrs. J. L. Newton on Friday afternoon from three to six, in honor of her sister, Mrs. Ralph Smith, of Winder. The lovely Newton home was thrown open, the rooms being connected by French doors, and was decorated with large ferns and hyacinths and peach blossoms. The table in the din ! ing room had a lace cover with a cen | terpieee consisting of a cyrstal basket j filled with peach blossoms. Around I this at intervals were placed bonbon j dishes of mints. Punch and sandwiches were served in the living room by Mrs. Josiah | Blasingame, Jr., and Mrs. Golden j Blasingame, of Jersey. Mrs. George Hatcher served cream at the beautifully appointed table in the dining room. Mrs. Walter Lott, Mrs. Charles Almond, Mrs. B. A. Clegg and Miss Margaret Newton assisted in serving. During the calling hours misses Martha and Frances Hatcher entertain ed the guests with their instrumental music. Mrs. Newton received in a cream lace gown with a touch of blue. Mrs. Smith was handsome in pink taffeta. Those assisting in receiving were Mrs Saunders Upshaw, Mrs. J. F. Wiley, Mrs. John Upshaw, Mrs. W. A. Knox, Mrs. J. 11. B. L. Carithers the past week-end. * • Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Jennings are re ceiving congratulations on the birth of a son who was born Sunday, March 13. * • Rev. and Mrs. W. 11. Faust had as their guest last week their mother, Mrs. J. P. Faust, of Lexington. * * Mr. Jerry Kilcrease, one of the most respected citizens of the county, was a visitor in the county Tuesday. • * Mr. R. O. Ross, of Decatur, was shak ing hands with his many friends in the city last week-end; he is always a welcome visitor to Winder. • * Mrs. J. P. Hurdle and little son. Phil, Jr. returned last Sunday to their home in Winston-Salem, X. C., after a visit to Rev. and Mrs. L. W. Collins. • * Rev. J. S. Settle, who has been sick for a week or more, is some letter, we are glad to say; hope he will soon be out again. • * Mr. and Mrs. Leon Isbell and Mr. and Mrs. George Appleby of Jefferson motored to Winder last Sunday and spent the day with friends. * • Miss Mellie Stanton, who spent sev eral days with her sister, Mrs. W. L. PeLePerricre. returned to her home at Social Circle Tuesday. Dr. and Mrs. G. W. DeLaPerriere, Mrs. Harry Segars and Mrs. Edgar DeLaPerriere motored to Athens Wed nesday and spent the day and attended the Bible Conference. • • Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bryant of Athens announce the birth of a son on Thursday, March 10th, at the home of Mrs. S. F. Maughon, Mrs. Bryant's mother. • • Rev. W. H. Faust, J. Gordon White head, Miss Johnnie Lou Smith and Mrs. L. A. House were among the num ber who heard Dr. roughton speak at the Athens Bible conference last Sun day afternoon. Dr. and Mrs. W. L. DeLaPerriere entertained at dinner last Sunday. The guests were Dr. and Mrs. G. W. DeLaPerriere, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. McCants, Mr. John McCants and Mr. Cliff DeLaPerriere. • * Miss Ida Kilgore jSpient the past week-end in Atlanta.
