WINDER CAMP BOYS PLAY HELEN The ball games played by the Camp Winder boys were well represented — two games were played, resulting in one victory for the home boys. Winder defeated Helen by the score of 24 to 11. Tlie game was a hard fought one with Wood fin Hill twirling for the home boys fliid Frank Bomluraut sticking behind the bat. The first game was tied and untied several times until the Inst Inning when one tall Nacoochee lad pounded the ball for a nice two-base hit with two men on bases whicli untied the score and credited Nacoochee with an other close victory The boys were rep resented by our Southpaw, John Car rington with Autry behind the bat. Frank Boinlurant’s catch in the begin ning of tlie game and James Emory Lord’s two three-base hits, and one two base hit starred for Camp Winder. With luck against the Camp Winder boys the Nacoochee lads won the game by the close score of 16 to 15. SALESMAN WANTED —To sell tires direct from factory to user. Excep tionally good commission. C. Editor Winder News: This, July 14th, finds me located at the above place teaching a line class. The enrollment runs to more than a hundred, and still they come—the old and young, the ignorant and learned. All the people seem to be interested in Xloore, the "Bethlehemite.” This is a pretty little town of about 2,000 pop ulation situated 18 miles Southeast of Greenville on the C. W y & C. Ky. It is an old town though it has many up to-date improvements. The present postmaster has held the position contin ously for 48 years. This is such a rare occurrence I thought it worth mention ing. There are three good church build ings, Presbyterian, Baptist and Xleth odist. I ant holding forth in the Bap tist church, a structure costing about $50,000. It is one of the most com plete edifices it has been my privilege to occupy for my work. It is supplied with electric lights, fans, toilets, rooms for every phase of church work and study. Added to this is a fine pipe or gan and a handsome piano. The pes ent pastor, Mr. Hair, is a man who know s how to do things. Crops and general conditions are about the same as in other sections. It has been dry here but rain has been falling for a few days. The boll wee vil has made his advent and is being “cussed” and discussed very much. Ev eryone has a remedy to exterminate him, especially the county agents and experts. When it comes to national, state and county advisers South Caro lina is abreast any other state of my acquaintance. I will close hep July 21st and go to C’entralhatdhee, Ga„ to teach a fifteen day gradel music class XVith best wishes for the editor and the homefolks. I am as ever, J. L. XIOORE.
