Hawthorne Ware entertained several friends at her attractive apart ments on Friday afternoon. Autumn leaves were used throughout the rooms as deeoratoins. After a most pleas ant afternoon spent playing bridge, the lvifetess, served a salad course with hot tea. Those invited to enjoy Mrs. Ware's gracious hospitality on this oc casion were Mesdaures Herschel Smith. Ralph Smith, G. C. Moseley, Bob i’ir kle, Fleming Thompson, Henry Pledger, George Fortson, Howard Rogers, P. H. Kimball, J. F. Broome and Carter Daniel, of Athens. MESDAMES GREENE AND BOWDEN HONOREES AT SEWING PARTY. Among the delightful events of the week was the sewing party on Wed nesday afternoon given by Mesdame> G. H. Fortson and J. H. Pledger, in honor of Mrs. Gordon Greene of Wash ington, D. C„ and Mrs. James Bowden of Atlantu. The room where the guest* assembled were prettily decorated with baskets of salvia. A lovely salad course was served late in the afternoon. Flanigan entertained the Young Matrons Federated club, the Brides club and a few friends at u delightful Hallowe’en party. Mrs. S. H. Ware delightfully enter tained the Junior Priscilla Sewing lub last Thursday afternoon at her apartment on Center street. MISSES McCANTS ENTERTAIN AT PRETTY HALLOWE'EN PARTY. Misses Nell and Charlotte McCants entertained at a pretty Hallowe'en par ty Thursday afternoon in compliment to their mother, Mrs. W. B. McCants, The entire floor of the home. was thrown together and decorated in the color motif of yellow and black. Au tumn foilage and quantities of yellow and white chrysanthemums with black cats, owls, witches and ghosts were used as decorations. As the guests arrived they were ser ved ghost ambrosia by a my-terious ghost and punch from a pumpkin em bedded in autumn leaves and fruits. Bobbing for apples and other inter toting Hallowe'en contests were en joyed and prizes awarded, and this was followed by fortunes. Later in the afternoon an ice course was served. Fifty guests enjoyed the Misses Mu- Cants hospitality. Those assisting in entertaining were Mrs. I,t*e DeLaPerriere, Mrs. Tom May nard. Mrs. John Hargrove. Mrs. Parks Stewart. Mrs. J. V. Hallowe'en week was marked by quite anumber of lovely s<M-ial events and among the prettiest was that of lust Friday, when Mrs. IV. L. DeLa- Perriere was the charming hostess at a delightful luncheon. As the guests arrived they were greet ed by a witch and ghost. The inte rior of this lovely home was unusually attractive with its many decorations of autumn leaves, chrysanthemums and pumpkins; Jack o-lanterns were hung from the lights of the chandeliers, mak ing every thing appear weird and spooky. The dining table was overlaid with a beautiful oluny luncheon set, and sad as its central decoration the tra ditional cauldron, in which burned a warm yellow light, and favors were lrawn from this pot by yellow ribbons xtending to each plate, and the read ing of appropriate fortunes found in each souvenir afforded much amuse nent.
