Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Woodruff of this
city announce the engagement of
their daughter, I.ucy Reunette, to Mr.
William Clair Harris, the marriage to
take place in March. No cards.
The above announcement is of sincere
interest to scores of friends of this pop
ular young couple.
Miss Woodruff is one of Winder’s
most charming and accomplished young
ladies, and Mr. Harris is one of Win
der’s fine young business men and of
good moral character.
YOUNGER SET ENJOY
VALENTINE PARTY.
Miss Sara Joe Roberts delightfully
entertained a large number of the
younger set at a lovely party last Fri
day evening.
The home was beautifully decorated
for this occasion with many red hearts
and other suggestions of the joyful Val
entine season. The shaded lights were
showered with many red hearts and
cast a soft glow over the lovely scene.
The mantels were decorated with ivy
and vases of red roses.
Tea and sandwiches were served af
ter a variety of Valentine games had
been played.

BEAUTIFUL PARTY.
A Valentine social event was the
pleasant and beautiful party given last,
Friday afternoon by Mrs. Paul Roberts, i
The interior of this attractive home was
elaborately decorated with Valentine
suggestions, with ivy and cut flowers
arranged in a most graceful manner. A i
number of interesting games furnished
amusement for the guests and late in
the afternoon a delicious salad course

The guests who enjoyed Mrs. Roberts’
hospitality on this occasion included
the High school teachers and other
friends which numbered about thirty.:

small bridge tea Tuesday afternoon.

Mrs. E. R. Harris, Mrs. Paul Autry,
Mrs. J. W. Griffeth, Mrs. Bob Pirkle,
Mrs. h! A. Carithers, Mrs. Howard Rog
ers and the hostess.
A letter to friends here from Dr. and
Mrs. G. W. DeLaPerriere states that
they are now in Orlando, Fla., and en
joying the climate and environment of
that beautiful Florida city. The let
ter stated that Mr. Walter Jackson,
formerly of Winder, called at their ho
tel Sunday afternoon in his $5000.00
Packard car and took them for a drive
'of 150 miles, to Bartow, Kisseinee and
other places, and later to supper at
his home Dr George says he has had
to do some retrenching since arriving
in Orlando, in regard to Florida’s beau
tiful (?) women; that he had forgot
ten that here lived two beautiful and
sweet matrons who formerly lived in
Winder. Dr. and Mrs. DeLaPerriere
will be home in a few days.

daughter, Miss Willie Mae, who recent
ly underwent an operation for appendi

Editor J. W. McWhorter attended the
inid-winter meeting of the Georgia
Press Association in Atlanta last Mon
day. The annual meeting of the assoi
ciatton will be held in Quitman, Ga.,
on July 17, 18 and 19. From Quitman
the editors will go to Brunswick and
St. Simons Island for an outing of sev
eral days. Quitman will make elabor
ate preparations for the entertainment
of the boys of the Fourth estate.

Mrs. J. T. Strange fo Winder is tlie
guest of her daughters, Mis. Hulrne
Kilnnebrew and Mrs. Carter Daniel.
Mrs. Daniel was painfully injured Fri
day night when she fell in pulling
down the shade which rolled up. It was
thought at first she had broken her
arm, but an x-ray revealed only severe
bruises. In falling she struck the baby,
who was also hurt, although not serious
ly, which their friends will he gratified
