' Mercer Murray, University of Geor
gia star athlete, married Miss Louriue
Hood, of Athens, Saturday morning, it
was learned Monday. The couple left
for the groom’s home in Fort Valley
Saturday afternoon. The bride is
known as one of Athens most beautiful
girls and is well known in Winder, be
ing a grand daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
S. C. Potts, and is popular here as well
as her home town of Athens.
Mrs. CAMP ENTERTAINS
BRIDGE CLUB.
Monday afternoon Mrs. E. V. Snipes
of Atlanta was honoree at a delightful
bridge party with Mrs. Robert Camp
as hostess, assembling together for an
interesting game the members of the
Bridge club. Vases of fragrant spring
flowers furnished the decorations and
delicious refreshments were served af
ter the game. Those present were

ard Rogers, Parks Stewart, W. L. De-
LaPerriere, Howard Perry, J. J. Wil
son, G. C. Moseley and J. W. Griffieth.

ENTERTAINS.
On last Thursday afternoon, Mrs.
4’lyde Williamson entertained at a de
lightful George Washington party in
honor of the Young Matrons Federated
club and other friends.
The tables for the games were plac
ed in the dining and living rooms which
presented a patriotic appearance as all
decorations were suggestive of W ashing
ton. On each table were seen nnna
ture cherry trees and bon-bon dishes
of erystalized cherries. .
The score cards were af patriotic
design, the games being scored with
small hatchets of red, white and blue.
As each guest arrived she was serv
ed hot tea and sandwiches.
After a.u interesting hour spent m
playing 500 the hostess served a tempt
ing sweet course which continuel to
carry out the idea of George Washing
ton. , „

Strand Theater Has
Good Picture To-day
The picture at the Strand Theater
to-day is a special feature entitled:
“Why I Would Not Marry.” It is an
all starr east and is said to lie an ex
tra good one.
On next Monday promises to be an
other good feature, with Ethel Clay
fon, in “Crooks Street.” Miss Clay
ton is considered a very fine actress
and is always seen in good pictures.
Mrs. J. W. Summerour and baby have
been quite ill for the past week.

turned from St. Joseph’s Hospital in
Atlanta, much improved to the delight

Mrs. A. M. Benton was called to
Commerce last Sunday, February 19,
onaecount of the death of her sister,
Mrs. Sallie Benton. Mrs. Benton was
buried on Monday, February 20.
Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Leonard of Reid
ville, S. 0., announce the birth of a
son, who lias been named Walter Guy.
Mrs. Leonard before her marriage was
Miss Nellie Kilgore.

Sunday with relatives in Social Circle
and will go from there to Atlanta where
she will spend next week with rela

The friends of Miss Willie Mae Eav
enson are welcoming her home after a
stay of several weeks at St. Joseph’s
hospital where she underwent a suc
cessful operation for appendicitis.

Mrs. Pearl Oldham has headquar
ters in Lake City, Fla., while in that
state in the interest of the Dictionary
of Facts. Asa book agent, Mrs. Old
ham is a very proficient saleslady and
we wish for her a most successful can
