The most successful preacher isn’t al ways the fellow who hus the greatest string of titles hooked onto his name. When trouble comes Into your life you don’t watch out for the dancing master, the movie fiend nor the boot legger. The renl seal sure-enough Christian is the fellow who can smile and re joice when his competitor rings twelve In a business deal. If more preachers were worn out at the knees and fewer on the seats there would be more Christianity and broth erly spij-lt shown all over Barrow county. The only time I ever feel sorry for mean corn liquor is when I see some guzzles It has go down. A groat forwnrd move will take place when preachers will have the courage to call sin by name and denounce evil in their churches. If an nngel were to fly over some sec tions of (Jeorgla he would have to carry smelling salts to keep the fumes of sin from dragging him down to the ground. The Jackson county road gang is building a perfectly splendid road be tween Winder and Jefferson. It is go ing to make the people of these cities love each other beteer, because they can see more of each other and learn their worthwhile, lovable traits. Heretofore it has boon so hard to get from one phut' to the other that this knowledge was positively not available. You don't have to ask if polecats and bootleggers inhabit any communi ty. By their presence they are known. When a church has to depend on “programs,” “oyster stews,” “Ice cream’ suppers,” it is a pretty good sign that the devil is going to get In some good work for himself pretty soon. A SUGGESTION Say, Mr. Farmer why not get busy and plant you a row of cotton on each terrace after preparing and fertilizing it well. By so doing you would have a row earlier for the boll weevil, and when he gets busy lie will centralize on this row and you can meet him easier to poison or catch. You won’t have but one row in twenty to go over. Now think of this and try it for what it is worth. This was suggested to me by Elijah Flanigan and I believe it is the thing to do. —C. M. Our young and talented debaters were victorious in both of their contests. The new court house was opened with a wonderful get-to-gether spirit, a warming of hearts and en couragement to co-operate for a pros perous and happy future. But in all of the speeches there was one insistent note, and that was that the future de pended not on favorable conditions but on the integrity and perseverance of the individual. And the only thing that will produce that and quicken it is an old-fashioned heart-warming, debt-pay ing revival of religion. All of our churches are working for it and pray ing for it. There can be no true pros perity or restoration of confidence with out it. Let’s make this not only a city-wide but a county-wide revival, and prove the promise of God : “Return unto me and I will return unto you.” Let us x>lnn to make the coming month a memorable time in our church history. Let us co-operate—mens club, Sunday school, Epworth League and Missionary societies—that members of the church may be “Fishers of men." L. Wilkie Collins, Pastor. WORRIED HUSBANDS READ THIS.
