SEWING CLUB.
The Junior Priscilla Sewing Club
had an unusually delightful meeting
last Thursday afternoon with Mrs. John
Maynard as hostess. The living room
was quite attractive with many baskets
of vari-colored summer flowers. Late
iu the afternoon the hostess assisted
by her two young daughters, Misses Ca
mille and Dorothy and Lona Reese
Couch served a delicious salad course
with iced tea. Those present were
Hosea Williams, Mark Sims,
G, W. DeLaPerriere, R. L. Eavenson,
W. X. Bailey, E. It. Harris, C. G. Land,
P. S. Roberts, Edgar DeLaPerriere, J.
B. Parham, .T. W. Griffeth, Harold
Herrin, D. L. Nowell, Reese Couch,
Preston Williams, and Howard Perry.
A PLEASANT OCCASION.
On Tuesday afternoon a jolly party
of women, most of whom were mem
bers of the T. E. L. class of the Stat
ham Baptist S. S. motored to the home
of Chas. Grimwood and family, carry
ing an abundance of tea and sandwich
es, besides “something up their sleeves.’
After an interesting program con
ducted by tbe enthusiastic president,
Mrs. Henderson, and a magazine guess
ing contest, the class teacher and sec
retSry, Mrs. Grimwood and Miss Grace
were commanded to take seats in the
center of the room, and were awed into
silence by threats of being initiated,
guillotined, etc.
The president then stepped behind
the eijaiTs, and in a neat little compli
mentary speech, disclosed the contests
of the “sleeves,” which proved to be a
shower of handkerchiefs, heavy with
love, and friendship, drops from the
shower fell also on Mr. Grimwood. who
is teacher of the men’s S. S. closs.
After refreshments were served and
the visitors were leaving for home, it
was found that one ear prefered to re
main at the meeting, but with much
persuasion “fore and aft” it started
merrily on with its load of happy T.
E. Ls.
Those present were Mrs. Flora Hen
derson. Mrs. Kate Davis, Mrs. Ethel
Cooper, Mrs. Mary Thurmond, Mrs.
Pearl Hammond. Mrs. Lewis Grizzle,

The program committee of the Wom
ans club is preparing an appropriate
program for the 4th of July. They will
co-operate with the Chamber of Com
merce in this celebration.
All members of the club are urged
to be present at the June meeting.

ENTERTAINS.
One of the most enjoyable parties of
the pi)st Week was the one given by
Mrs. Mac Potts in honor of Mrs. War
ren Furlow of Jackson, Ga., a recent
bride. The tables on which 500 was
p!jyed were placed on the beautiful
lawn with a bowl of sweet peas on each
table. Punch was served on the veran
da by Misses Gladys Harris and Lou
ise House. During the afternoon a
delightful salad course with ices, was
served.
The honor guest was beautifully
dressed in a blue canton-crepe, trimm
ed in applicated velvet flowers. The
hostess was lovely in a lavender crepe.
The invited guests were Mrs. Warren
Furlow, of Jackson, Ga., Mrs. Mac

faculty of the North Georgia Military
