The W. C. T. U. will hold its reg

WINDER WOMAN’S CLUB
The Woman’s Club met on Wednes
day, July 19th, at the Barrow* Hotel
with Mesdames Aiken, R. R. Barber,
Wiley Barber and W. N. Bailey as
joint hostesses.
The following reports were made
from the different chairmen.
Mrs. H. A. Carithers reported 15
magazines delivered to the sick; 38
members to the circulating book club;
two story telling hours for children, us
der auspices of the Mothers’ Club.
Paper on Value of Kindergarten to
he published in The Winder News at
an early date.
Mrs. Herschel Smith gave Mrs. Geo.
Fortson's report on legislation.
Read 15 bills to come before the leg
islature indorsed by the Womans club.
A report was made that the Woman’s
club had selected as their tree a water
oak to be plasted in front of the court
house.
Mrs. Herschel Smith was appointed
fo keep a scrap hook for the year. Mrs.
Burch gave a report of executive board
meeting, when plans were made for a
benefit party and baby show and Geor
gia made dress contest on account of
which will be published elsewhere.
There were five members added to
the roll: Mesdames C. O. Niblack, Carl
Yearw&od, A. T. Harrison, S. T. Ross,
and Z. F. Farmer.
Mrs. R. H. Kimball made a splendid
talk on Citizesship.
The hostesses served delicious re
freshments.

RECEPTION IN HONOR OF MRS.
KING AND MRS. JACKSON.

Quite a brilliant and beautiful social
event of the summer was the reception
last Friday afternoon with Mrs. G. A.
Johns as the charming hostess at her
elegant home on Candler street. The
honorees being Judge Johns’ sister, Mrs.
John N. King, of Rochelle, and Mrs.
Walter Jackson of Orlando, Fla., a
former resident of Winder. The lower
floor "of the home was thrown together
and with its artistic decorations of
shasta daisies and Japanese sun flowers
created a lovely scene and formed a
beautiful setting" for the radiant and
beahtiful dressed ladies. Upon arrival
the guests were greeted by Mesdames
H. T. Flanigan, W. O. Perry and Mac
Potts. Punch was served in the library
by Mrs. Carter Daniel and Mrs. Hulme
Kinnebrew of Athens. Misses Elizabeth
Kimball and Mary Louise Johns.
The receiving line composed of Mes
dames Johns, King. Jackson, J. L. Mc-
Garlty of Monroe and James J. Phil
lips of Monroe stood in the living room.
Those assisting in this room were Mes
dames L. S. Radford, Bessie Edwards,
P. A. Juhnn and W. A. Bradley.
/The dining room with its beautiful
furnishings was unusually attractive,
the same lovely flowers being used, the
color motif of yellow and white was
carried out in the mints and frozen
course served. Mrs. Roy Jackson and
M?,s. Clyde Williamson presided at the
table were assisted by Mesdames
Dunn. H. E. Millikln, C. B. Almond
and J. JV Jackson.

MRS. NIBLACK ENTERTAINS.
Mrs. C. O. Niblack entertained the
Entre Nous club Tuesday morning in
honor of Mrs. Guy Kilgore's guest,
Mrs. W. N. Massengale, of Atlanta. Af
ter an hour of sewing the charming
hostess, assisted by Mrs. W. J. Burch,
served a delicious ’ salad course with
ices.

Mrs. Mac Potts and Mrs. W. A. Brad
ley were joint hostesses at a most en
joyable patty Tuesday morning at the
Community Park, the honor guest be
ing M‘ - s. Walter Jackson of Orlando,
Fla. Tables were arranged in the park
for games of 500 and the event proved
to be one of the most pleasant of the
ever gay summer season.
The guests included the members of
the Young Matrons Federated Club.
BENEFIT PARTY AND BABY SHOW
AND GEORGIA MADE DRESS
CONTEST.
On Wednesday, August 2. the Wom
an's club will give a benefit party in
connection with a baby show aud Geor
gia made dress contest. Dr. Randolph
lias kindly cossented to weigh and
measure the babies at that time. Sev
eral prizes will be given to the babies
aud a prize will be given to the lady
wearing the prettiest —yet cheapest—
dress, made of material made in Geor
gia. The exact place of the party will
be announced in next week's paper.
All the ladies are cordialy invited to
attend and have a sice time, sewing
and games will be features of the af
ternoon.

ENTERTAINS.
Mrs. Byrd Harris was hostess last
Week to the members of the Young
Matrons Federated club and other
friend? at a delightful party on Thurs
day.
The living room and library were at
tractively arrayed for the games and
quantities of bright summer flowers
adorned the mantels and tables.
The hostess was assisted in receiving
by Mrs. Clef Jackson at the conclusion
of the games which were greatly en
joyed. a delightful ice course was ser
ved.

Archer. Mrs. Hill is a sister of Mr.
Cooper, and Mrs. Veal is his grand
mother. On Septehmer 29th, she will
celebrate her one hundredth birthday.
This excellent woman has lived a noble
life, and has seen many changes in
this world, that if put into book form,
would furnish interesting information.
Even* in her advanced age. she is an
interesting character, and well inform

in Winder, and will move his family
here at an early date. He is at pres
ent in Athens and will spend Mondays
and Saturdays here until he can locate
his wife here.

Winder citizens have become inter
ested in fruit growing and will put out
several thousand peach frees this fall.
A local organization has been formed
with Col. R. 11. Kimball preisdent and
